Actually, apostrophe misplacement is a well-known symptom of haunting by past Anglia's and Cortina's spirits.

The trick is to fill ones boots when one can get a greater return or pay off loans if one can't - I guess.

Sigh - those two are the stuff that naughty dreams are made of :)

As it happens, I've been following the recent onion crisis in India, which I think provides some perspective for this thread: India bans onion exports after eye-watering price rise

One can obtain much better value for money by shopping around and buying only serendipitous bargains and bulk special offers: For example, I recently bought the following: 1.5 Kg Swede 45p 1 Kg Carrots 29p 1 Kg Parsnips 39p 2.5 Kg Potatoes ?1 Total ?2.13 That's about enough vegetables for a family of four for a week - 53.25 pence each or 7.61 pence per person per day.

HAL9000 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Under current laws convicted prisoners cannot be compelled to work This is wrong - British convicts can be compelled to work and refusal can invoke punishment. It is remand prisoners that cannot be compelled to work. However, in practice, punishment involves loss of fairly minor privileges and, possibly, a little time that would otherwise have been credited for good behaviour. In most UK prisons, only a small percentage of prisoners are offered work, anyway - most are enrolled in educational classes or are confined in their cells for up to 23 hours a day.

Is dumpster diving allowed? I used to scavenge discarded fruit and vegetables from Rye Lane market for a local community centre - often found enough food to feed a small army. Lately, I've noticed that the trash piles are being picked clean by several impoverished-looking regulars - a sign of the times, I guess - no more easy pickings to be had there now.
-
Under current laws convicted prisoners cannot be compelled to work - they would have to volunteer. I imagine only the relatively small percentage of Category D prisoners currently held in open prisons would be considered eligible (many of whom already work in the community) - the rest would probably escape at the slightest opportunity given the fairly minor consequences absconding attracts. The idea is dead in the water - in my view.

I've built a few out of wire coat hangers in years gone by - once made a Moog Synthesiser-like device from a circuit published in a popular electronics magazine. Always been a fan of electronic music ? don?t have any musical talent, though.

As soon as Schr?dinger's cat observes Chick - that's lunch sorted. No uncertainty there! (I taut I thaw a puddy tat!) Seriously, if you do look up Schr?dinger's cat you have a 50:50 chance of finding it dead - best not go there. Sadly - attempting to measure uncertainty has killed more cats than any other scientific experiment. Be nice - don?t open the box!

What supernatural/seemingly supernatural things have you witnessed ?

ianr - those temporal discontinuities confirm that this forum?s members hail from a broad spectrum of alternative realities. However, I have to acknowledge that that may only be true in my particular reality. YMMV, as they say. -

I'm suggesting that it doesn't matter how the hunter 'feels' - evolution has wired the human brain to experience pleasure when pursuing various survival strategies - one of which is hunting. What is important is that modern man hunts according to an ethical code - which is the case here. Regarding the mind reading: your entire argument, as it appears to me, is based on your perception of what prey animals might be thinking, for example, that they are capable of foreseeing their fate and fearing the consequences. I have seen no evidence that any prey animal is capable of that level of consciousness. Prey animals being the subject of this discussion.
-
aquarius moon - I respect your position on this subject - however, I don't think your argument is enhanced by targeting the hunter's state of mind - that's a subjective matter beyond the scope of your argument, which, as it stands, relies entirely on your perception of the prey's state of mind. Since your foundation is already precarious, there's no reason to add another layer of mind reading into the equation.

Surely, the T&Cs will tell one what can and can't be done? Without reference to them, it's pointless suggesting reselling or transferring the tickets to other routes/passengers, one would have thought?

I had you down as a man who knows his onions! I, on the other hand, don't have a clue - sorry :(
