  1. We had exactly the same level of service from Glen as 'skylorikeet' above. Glen came out the same day I called him and fixed the fridge/freezer there and then. He even called the next day to make sure that everything was working as it should. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

  3. Boris has been re-elected. It was announced just before midnight.
  4. Kids have to arrive at school by 8.55 at Goodrich. This was introduced a few months back.
  5. intexasatthe moment westof posted on 17th August on this thread "Re: Best part of ED school wise" quoting the Evening Standard article. I believe you also posted on that thread a few weeks back.
  6. Two other web sites with Photos Zimbio and Metro.
  7. David Cameron spent some time at Kingsdale today. See if you can spot your child in the Photos.
  8. Perhaps you could call Kingsdale to make an appointment to speak to somebody about your concerns. I am sure they would be more than happy to discuss the issues you raised. I know that they do not actively participate in the discussions on the EDF because they feel it wouldn't be right but, from my experience as a parent, they do take feedback from parents and others very seriously. My child is in year 8 and very happy there. I know a few anxious parents whose children didn't get a place at Kingsdale this year and are desperate to find a way in.
  9. It's snowing heavily in ED now. Can anybody tell me what the situation is with the busses up and down Lordship Lane?
  10. Just got text messages from schools this morning: Kingsdale is closed. Goodrich is open.
  11. Does anybody know when the Kingsdale school buses will start running again for this autumn term? I tried calling the school, but could only leave a message.
  12. Goodrich tried the cones a few years back when Mr Coleman was still headmaster. Unbelievably some parents would get out of their car and move them to one side or even just push them out of the way with their cars. Some of us parents ended up trying to "guard" the cones but had to regularly put up with abuse and aggression from the offending parents.
  13. Driving home about an hour ago we noticed that Barry Road was closed off by the police with a tape across the road. Two number 12 buses were stationary at this junction and not going anywhere. Anybody know what the closure was about?

Both the schools that my children go to have said that not having enough grit to keep their pathways safe is a major reason for closure. They have already used up the stocks they had and have more grit on order. But here lies the problem; the councils are prioritising new deliveries of grit to go to hospitals and major roads first, then to schools.
