  1. I would be happy to talk to them. When I've calmed down from the shouting I am doing at the moment that is!
  2. I walked out this morning to find no petrol in my car. Again. The lady at the met who took my details sounded less than interested, but it has been reported. (6)
  3. Here's a(nother) thought- The pavements took over 3 months and have been left in a not ideal state. The road itself takes two weeks and judging by what has been done so far is a dream to drive on. So why not just do the pavements with tarmac instead? It would save on hassle, inconvenience, time and one would think money.

Hear hear. The pavement isn't great at all. Flags not level, inspection covers poorly refitted. If the council inspected it before they paid then they need new specs. If they didn't then the bloody well should have. It seemed that most of the time there were two or three guys working on it. For three months maybe. Why not have a team of twenty doing it over a few weeks? The overall cost must surely be the same.
  5. This has got me thinking. ?4m budget. CP Road is approximately 1 mile long and costs ?800k. That means the ?4m would only do 5 miles of roads / pavements annually. James - Can I ask how much is spent each year on things such as (so called) traffic calming and raised junctions? I drive in Southwark every day and a fair proportion of the roads are in a shocking condition, yet many seem to have new humps and bumps installed. Surely it would be more wise to spend the budget used for adding traffic calming to first repair the pavements and roads that are in a bad condition?
  6. 800k?! I'd love to see how that is broken down. Somebody somewhere is earning a pretty penny out of our council tax. That figure seems utterly unreasonable to me.
  7. ... and ruin the tracking on your car. ?4 million isn't an awful lot of money given the state of the roads at the moment. Do you have any idea how much it costs to do a road like Dunstans?
  8. It may well be technically interest free, but you can bet your backside it won't be free of charges. Why on earth would any bank loan money, at risk, without any opportunity to gain. Even true Sharia banks do not do this so why would Lloyds? The loan may involve "gifts" to the creditor as a thank you for lending. Is that interest in all but name? Yes it is. Just carry on banking with Lloyds. They are all sharking after your money no matter what word they use to describe the payments.
  9. Report it online here- https://online.met.police.uk/ I used it when I had my tank drained in October. More than likely they will close the case due to lack of evidence, but at least it will be logged. If enough people in a given area report the same type of crime then I would imagine they would start to maybe think of doing something.
  10. To be fair I saw them gritting the top of Dunstans Road this afternoon before the snow arrived. The only problem is the gritter was travelling at about 30 mph. The faster they go the less grit coverage you get. On a hill like that they should be dumping more than the regular amount to start with. Little point in driving around gritting roads if you don't give tham a decent covering!

If you have an outward opening door then you need to protect the hinge side of the door as much as the lock side. A burglar can easily remove the pins in the hinges and open it, in effect, the wrong way around. There's two (or more) ways of dealing with it. You can install hinge bolts (aka dog bolts)- Hinge bolts These prevent the door from opening on that side, even if the hinge is removed. A similar idea that is actually built into the hinge itself- Security hinges Even if you remove the pin from these hinges, the plates are locked together, preventing entry. A London Bar won't do an awful lot for an outward opening door (but won't hurt). You can increase the resistance of the door to a kick-in attack by driving extra screws through piece of wood that the door sits against when closed, into the frame/jamb. Hinge plates and lock plates also add strength to the door where they have been weakened by removing material for the lock mechanism. Add a Birmingham Bar (a hinge-side London Bar) and you're all done. Fort Knox! I'd imagine you can get all of this stuff at Callows on The Lane. I've never bought anything from them (ebay is my friend), but they once cut a key for me free of charge so they must be decent chaps!
  12. I think my earlier point about one side of it not having any markings is the most serious problem. The council did the whole red tarmac thing (why?!) and then saw fit not to repaint the lines. As someone who has suffered the consequences I'd love to try and get something done. But how? My worst junction award goes to this though - crossing Friern Road when travelling along Goodrich Road. My bumper is 3/4 of the way across the road by the time I can see anything coming. I turn my radio off and wind down the windows whenever I cross it so I can try and hear cars approaching. This doesn't help with cyclists though, who are after all the most vulnerable road users.
  13. Yet another serious post hijacked by the "Funny Brigade". This was originally about accidents so nasty that people have come close to dying. I know, I was in one of them. Well done.
  14. I was involved in a large accident at that junction in February. The one when the wall was knocked down - that was me. Well, it was the taxi who flew out of Underhill without even slowing down, let alone stopping and taking a look. He ploughed into my car and sent us both flying into the wall. Not a good advert for private hire cabs! I saw another one a couple of weeks ago at the same junction. Something really needs to be done. Underhill Road has no marking at the junction (on the north-west side) and I wonder if this has been a contributing factor. Surely a junction should have markings! There is a pedestrian crossing yards away from the junction. Maybe they could make it into a proper crossroads with traffic light control. How many accidents do there have to be before the council take some action. Or does it require a fatal accident before they get off their backsides?
  15. No PMs yet :( I think Moos might be right. I shall change tack. Hislordship's URL above will remain a final resort.
  16. You are exactly right Huguenot. Also, I don't care too much for any religion (except maybe Hinduism), I can respect any wholesome culture, and unfortunately any language outside of our close European cousins baffles me! I'm not limiting the possibilities to a precise country - to do so would be foolish. There are many beautiful women across the whole region :o)

  19. Must be Asian. Aged 25-30. Open to offers.
  20. Just wondering where it was as I have an interest in several properties up towards the grass bank in front of the Ladlands estate. Not nice to read when it could be one of your properties and you would potentially never find out about it!
  21. Where on Dunstans Road was it?
