Where to recycle old CDs please?
gumshoe replied to Smiley_blue_1234's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
You can trade them in for ? at a CEX (there?s a ton of them around, and ones in Peckham and Brixton) - might be worth it if you have a few to get rid of or have any rare ones? -
Jewellery repair shop - can you recommend one locally?

My partner recently had his wedding ring resized and polished at Lila?s - did a great job and weren?t too pricy. Would recommend! -
Missing post since sorting office moved to peckham
gumshoe replied to nina_maniana's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A banner day already - took in a package for our upstairs neighbour & whilst dropping it off, noticed a missed delivery slip that never made it to us (we have a separate front door which hasn?t caused any problems with delivery until the change in posties). Then, on the way to pick up the 12 via Goodrich Road, noticed some posties sorting their van out by causally throwing things on the pavement. Now in the queue at the sorting office - at least 20 ish people behind me and there?s only 30 mins until it closes :( -
I?ve done both the shortbread stars and the red wine tiramisu from this Ottolenghi article (https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/dec/03/yotam-ottolenghi-sweet-treats-festive-table) - they were fairly straightforward once you got going. I?m attempting his clementine and chestnut trifle this year!

There?s a good shop in Nunhead which tends to have a lot of MCM furniture called Papa Bear - there?s also Vintique London in Bermondsey.

Royal Mail Sorting Office Closure Meeting..

Below, taken from her reponse: ?However, I remain concerned that insufficient action is being taken and that the problems are not being addressed. I am meeting senior staff at Royal Mail shortly, and in advance of the meeting I am compiling an anonymised dossier of all of the problems that constituents have told me about.? She has also written to the minister responsible for postal services highlighting the continued poor service in SE22 in an attempt to try and get some sort of urgent government response. -

Post today on Lordship Lane (by Goodrich Road) - only problem was at least half of it was misdelivered and meant for our neighbours and not us! -
Recycling in ED, easy to do, or complete confusion?
gumshoe replied to trinidad's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Living in a flat, it can be a bit hit and miss - some of our neighbours appear not to know what can and can?t be recycled. I had to remove a yoga mat from our plastic recycling bin a few weeks ago and there are always plastic bags in there! Very frustrating. It would be useful for Southwark to remind people - especially those in rented properties who might experience a decent turnover in those living there - what can and can?t be recycled, although I would also like people to take a bit more intiative and find out these things before charging ahead with putting a pair of old boots in the recycling (which has also happened...) -
Hotel / b&b suggestions in ED & surrounding?
gumshoe replied to gumshoe's topic in Request a Tradesperson
A belated follow up - my in laws ended staying up at the Victoria inn and seemed to really like it (although my father in law was a bit grumpy about a 2am fire alarm but never mind). Rooms were apparently cosy and comfortable with nice mini toiletries, and it went down so well that I think they?ll stay there again when visiting us. Thanks all! -
I asked about this very thing a little while back, the thread is here : http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1937202,1940325#msg-1940325 My inlaws decided to stay at the Victoria Inn in Peckham - they?ll be staying there in about two weeks time so I?ll be able to update then as to the experience!

Another recommendation for Richard - he?s just finished repainting our flat to a really high standard. Not the most straightforward of jobs - new plaster throughout and the previous owner left us with more than a few holes in the walls, but Richard took it all in his stride and we?re really happy with the job. He even touched up one of the rooms after a leak from the flat above and has left us with a flat we?re really proud of! Excellent standard of work and always leaves everything clean and tidy - wouldn?t hesitate to use again.

Book Clubs in ED or surrounding areas
gumshoe replied to Sparkler's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yep, I?d also be interested in either joining an existing one or starting a new one for ED, having bought way too many books for a week away, I?ve got a backlog to get through (and accompanying reading with discussion and wine sounds great). -
Hello forum friends, I?m wondering if anyone has any suggestions of a nice hotel and/or b&b in ED or the immediate surrounding areas? My in-laws are hoping to visit us in our new flat and want to stay local to the area - but I don?t know where to suggest! I?ve seen The Lilac Door and was thinking about recommending that but wanted to see if there were any other local gems to suggest? Thanks ever so much!
