  1. We found him on the table, so we sat him on a chair and a nice lady handed him in. I'm hoping he wasn't the real Pakka, just a licensed imitation, as he's our favourite bit of t'Garden.
  2. Me and baby Verds liked Baby Sensory. Chee, who runs it, is really good with the babies and it's on at different times throughout the day so it fits in with naps. It's ?6 a class, but she does a free trial. It's songs, a bit of signing and a bit of waving things in their little faces.
  3. If you don't want to drive too far, there are some lovely bucket and spade-ish beaches round the ports - Around Caen, and also into Britanny/Dinard. It's also the same weather as here (or a bit warmer if you're lucky) so not too hot for little ones.
  4. What's a good carseat for 12 months plus? I need to buy one tomorrow, but there's so much choice - and so many different prices. Asda have one on offer at ?25, but I'm thinking there must be a catch! It's just for use in one car, so doesn't need to be easy to transport or light. But it does need to be suitable for a wiggly, nosy baby who slips an arm out of the one I've got quite easily! And I don't have a big budget. Thanks...
  5. You do need it! After much deliberation I got one yesterday and I love it. And it's guaranteed to put your baby in a good mood x
  6. ::o amazing! It's sign n swear
  7. You fancy Mr Tumble? I've just done a sick in my mouth.:)
  8. Nooooooo! Get a surprise! I was desperate to know, then we suddenly decided not to find out while we were at the scan. For some reason, we convinced ourselves we were having a boy and called the bump a boy's name all the way through. Of course, she's a girl. I loved not knowing, especially as we had no girls' names so I got to call her by the name I decided I'd call my baby when I was little! Congratulations and good luck x
  9. Is the CP one o'clock club quite friendly? My baby's a bit of a handful (in a good way - very sociable!) and we've often wondered whether to brave it alone!
  10. Thanks for all your advice, pramfans! Very helpful indeed.
  11. Yeah, come on, let's talk shopping! Eek, I hadn't even thought about a Maclaren - I was just going for he Micralite because it's gorgeous. Perhaps I need a test drive. But then the new Superlite is available in a nice blue, which'll probably swing it for me. Does anyone with a baby over one use their original pram or is it all about the stroller from now on?
  12. I've been saving up (yes, I know that makes me sound 10) for a Micralite Fastfold for ages, and now I have the cash they've gone and brought out a new model - the Super-lite. The main differences I can see is that it reclines further, and comes in new colours. And it only weighs 6kg. It's not out for another few weeks though and I'm getting impatient. If you've got a Fastfold, would you see the need for an even lighter one or should I stick to the original model? It's for a not-light baby who's nearly one.
  13. My baby is 11 months too. She generally gets up at 7, then is back in bed by 10 for an hour and a half. Then she'll grab half an hour's kip at 3.30 - if she misses that we have meltdown by 6. But that leaves no time for activities in the morning, which is when the good stuff's on. Oh, and I got her into this habit by doing the one thing the books warn against - walking her round the park until she's asleep. In fact, it's only been the last couple of months that she's napped in her cot, and she'll always have a small strop before falling asleep. It's hard - good luck!
  14. Mini the clown is tame, not the sinister clown type at all. If you can't find her by googling PM me and I'll find her email address.
  15. The one above the health food shop on Lordship Lane is good. Francine used to do it on a Mon am and Weds. I started going at 30 weeks and her breathing techniques brought me from unfit to well hard in terms of labour pain management. Miraculous.
  16. Yay! Congratulations on both baby and pram! I reviewed the Spin for a website and I love it. The only real drawback I had was the price, but then again I am really tight when it comes to buying baby things. It's easy to drive, easy to go from parent to front facing and light. The car seat is really easy to use, which is important when a small person is screeching and you need to strap her in quickly. I find it light and easy to get on and off the bus, and the shopping basket's big. And it's all space age and gorgeous. The only down sides are that you have to remove the carry cot to fold it, which may not suit everyone. And when you convert it so baby can sit up it feels like there's not much seat room. Or maybe that's just my excuse to buy a new stroller... You don't see many of them around yet, but they're ace.
  17. Have you got Windows? A lot of computers come with Windows Parental Controls, so you can set up a username for the kids and set up the websites they can or can't access. You can also view their activity. Anything really rude, adult, etc on YouTube should require you to have an account and sign in, confirming you're over 18. Then again, there might still be content you wouldn't want your child looking at that doesn't fit this. Also, your Internet service provider may provide parental controls - AOL has very strict/safe ones.
  18. Hurrah. Thanks, that's ideal!
  19. I'm taking my ten-month-old into that London to meet a friend and her teenage daughter next week. She's OK in her buggy for an hour or so, then is desperate to get out an have a good old crawl and seek out danger. Is there anywhere you could recommend that would please her and not bore a 15-year-old? London Bridge/Soho/Covent Garden way? She'd be pleased with any bit of floor space really!
  20. Yes! I love Gill Rapley's book - and it might be good for your daughter if she doesn't have cash to spend on baby food. I have a well-read copy she can have if she likes.
  21. I've been taking my baby to cr?che while I go swimming. She's been 6 times, only for 40 minutes, but she hates it. Yesterday I went in and she'd cried the whole time. Today I went and stayed with her and she seemed to be getting most upset whenever a toddler squealed. So I couldn't bear to leave her there in tears and took her home. The ladies who work there are lovely and say she'll get used to it, but I feel like giving up. She's just turned ten months and since Christmas has become more clingy. But when we're out she'll crawl away and go to anyone. Should I persevere or perhaps try again when she's a bit older? I know it sounds soft, but I'm a bit worried it might all be too scary for her even though I know lots of younger babies who'll happily go to nursery.
  22. Oh wow, that sounds great - freedom! Thanks for putting my mind at rest.
  23. I went to have a look at the creche at Beckenham Spa and it seemed really nice. Has anyone's baby ventured in there? And is it easy to book places, or even just turn up? My baby is nine months old and I need a swim! Any thoughts appreciated...
  24. Ohmydays, that is the greatest thing ever! Anyone know when the Christmas lights go up on the Lane? Yeah, I know it's only Bonfire Night but I'm excited.
  25. My six month old is rolling all over the place. Which means I can't get a shower, as she can escape from her baby gym - and go quite a distance in a short amount of time! Is a playpen a good option, or is it a bit prisony? What does everyone else do with babies on the loose? She screams in her bouncy chair now, so I can't take that in the bathroom with me. Thanks!
