  1. My 3-year-old has a day off nursery next Fri, and I was wondering if there were any Christmas-esque playgroups on. I was thinking of taking her to see Christmas lights, but her baby sister might hate that!
  2. As a parent whose children won't stand a chance of getting into our nearest school even though it's only 300 metres away, of course I support the idea of more school places. But, for various reasons, I don't support another Harris academy, and I think the way it's being presented as the only choice is a very bad way to handle this. When I explained that I wouldn't support Harris to James Barber, he emailed me back to say: "if we could get enough support for a Harris school it would dramatically reduce pressure on the other East Dulwich schools." Hardly fair, really. And I'd like to know more about what will be done about the usual scrum for reception places in Sept 2013.
  3. Sainsbury's Local near the Plough has Cadbury's ones by the till
  4. Something glamorous and non-baby would be nice! False lashes, lipgloss, BB cream, bright nail polish.
  5. Oh wise people of the forum... My baby had croup a week ago and hasn't really touched a solid since. She's now got a massive cold and cough. She's having plenty of milk (bottle fed now), but doesn't fancy anything more. Plenty of wet nappies and, er, liquidy number twos. Usually I don't mind if she doesn't take in too much in the way of solids - we're doing BLW and she was taking it slowly anyway - but a trip to A&E with croup has thrown me and maybe I'm worrying too much. I tried her with an Ella's pouch today, but no joy. Not sure whether to be concerned as my older child used to eat everything at that age!
  6. I don't really want to share this secret, but 306 is brilliant. I changed after too much time spent trying to get an appointment with DMC Today I took my baby in. And although she was on the mend they told me to make an appt for.tomorrow so they could keep an eye on her Such a difference to DMC! And the receptionists are shockingly nice, and flexible where children are concerned.
  7. I'd never been trick or treating before, but my 3 year old was so excited I took her out tonight. It was brilliant! Great atmosphere, thanks to everyone who made such an effort. We were only going to go next door, but saw so many people in Crystal Palace Rd that we joined in. There were some good decorations! We only had one knock from a group of teenagers in Scream masks, and they were lovely. I do have a headache from the Haribo leftovers though...
  8. Wowsers, that sounds good. Are any trick or treatersout early? My 3 year old is obsessed with the idea. So I was wondering if anyone was welcoming small scary visitors anywhere near Sainsbury's Local-ish bit of the Lane. We will have our pumpkin out for the first time this year if you're in need of treats...
  9. Hey Goosegreen PTA, If the school's an academy, does that affect the way we go about applying for a reception place? Or does it still go down on the Southwark form? Thanks!
  10. Yep, Nicola worked miracles with my friend's sleepless 10 month old. I'm still working on mine, but she gave us so much good advice. And she talks about quite soft approaches, not loads of crying. We got a group together for a seminar so it was cheap too!
  11. No, but my daughter went to the nursery when she was 3 and it's lovely. We bumped into the ladies who run the baby room the other day- they were taking them round the park, and it looked like they were having a great time. One of them, Joan, used to work in the main nursery and she's amazing.
  12. You lot are amazing. Please can you come and organise me? I have a 3.5 year old and a baby who's 8 months. It's still chaos. I bought a freezer with good intentions, but it just contains Frubes. Bread and butter counts as a baby meal. And I lock myself in the.bathroom every.morning to slap on BB cream. Any spare time that I could use to get organised is spent having a disco or making the baby laugh. And my house is a mess. So really just to say don't worry if you're finding it hard - you're not alone!
  13. Oaktree's nice - the ladies are lovely, and it's not too far from the station for a pre-train drop-off.
  14. My baby, who's eight months, refused every bottle going. So if you need to try a few different ones, I have a selection you're welcome to! We chanced upon a half-teat half-spout type thing in Sainsbury's, just a cheapo one, and she took a while, but eventually drank from it. She still tries to flip her head round for a feed, but we're introducting it gradually. I do sympathise! I had the world's most boring 40th due to still feeding...
  15. Wise people of the forum, I need to get to Brighton with a pram and two children on Sat by midday. I notice the forecast is sunny, so am I mad to think I'll just get on any train and get a seat? Anyone been recently and can give me an idea of how busy it gets? Should I go early?
  16. So when is the 'not closing down' One o'clock club opening this week? Or indeed next week?
  17. Yes. One or two spaces left if anyone else is interested.
  18. Six months plus... Mine is just over seven months.
  19. M&S come up a bit small and they have age 3. I had the delight of visiting the Croydon branch while my 3 year old and baby had a synchronised meltdown, so I just grabbed what I could and realised how small the sizes were when I got home! A joyful moment. Think I'll shop online...
  20. I'm organising a baby sleep seminar with Child Sleep Solutions next week, and I need a couple more people to help spread the cost. Anyone being driven mad by lack of sleep and up for joining us on Monday 3 September in the evening? PM me if you'd like more details.
  21. So which days will it be open the week after?
  22. Not closing down? Is that why the lovely ladies who work there were saying goodbye as they wouldn't be employed any more?
  23. Me too. In fact, I'm doing it now. The older generation call it 'making a rod for your own back'. I call it 'the only way to watch trash telly in peace'. I did read something about doing shorter feeds to wean them off it in the night, but like you I have a toddler too so I tend to do what gives me the most sleep. I'd be interested to get some advice too though!
  24. Love it! The staff are all lovely and really warm with the kids. They provide a written report every week, with photos and details of what the toddlers have learned. I don't mind the outside space being small as it's shady and very secure. PM me if you need to know more.
  25. Great. Anyone else? PM me if you prefer...
