  1. Whatever you do, don't cycle down the nearside of HGVs or busses, even if they appear stationary. They might turn left without indicating, and then you're stuck in the railings. This is not to scare you off cycling, but to give you the one crucial advice I think everyone should keep in mind. If you stay behind then you're gonna be alright. As for the routes, I think the canal path is fine in daylight, but risky at night. I would stick to well lit main roads after nightfall.
  2. I am with jimmy two fingers on that one. hand over your stuff. You got plenty to loose, and some cash and a phone aren't worth risking your life. Hope noone got hurt. I do train wing chun since a couple of years, and if I know one thing then its that when confronted with more than one guy you hardly stand a chance. Also just because you had some self defence classes doesn't mean you're a good fighter. I've never been in a fight, and even though I know how to handle myself in training, I am still afraid of a fight in a real environment. But even if you are a mean fighter, as soon as a knife comes into play you're most likely to end up dead. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/feb/01/stab-death-arrests-croydon I know it hurts to just hand over the cash and then walk away powerless. I had three situations like this in my life. But in the end of the day I am still alive, I got plenty to loose, and the way I look at it is that I try to be more streetwise, avoid situations where there's no exit route, etc ... awareness (not paranoia though) ...
  3. Well, the red mist is gone ... but I'd still pretty much have a stern word with that guy!
  4. My g/f just told me that she got semi-harassed on the train. She first didn't realize because she was half asleep, but the guy sitting next to her started rubbing up to her with his elbow and touching his crotch. She just blanked and was to scared to say something. This was happening in a five-seat aisle, and no-one else said something either. When the filthy pig got up at Battersea Park, he threw a piece of paper onto her with his phone number on there. She was so shocked that she threw the note away imediatly after, which is a shame in a way, because I'd love to tell the guy how much I want to take his kneecap out. Anyway, I don't want to make anyone frightened, but could people please say something if they notice something like that ...
