  1. Any recommendations for an evening course in cushion making - or similar? Ideally SE22/15 or environs. Many thanks
  2. Out of interest - and if it's a very obvious question, apologies - does anyone know if practices receive funding based on patient numbers and are there audits completed to verify they aren't fudging the numbers? I only ask as I left DMC two years ago as a patient - due to the exceptionally poor admin / ever changing way of securing an appointment / never getting an appointment - and receive regular letters saying I am due a test and check up for a condition I have. I have repeatedly told them I left ages ago but the letters continue. The last one was a couple of weeks ago and I said I would raise a formal complaint if I received another. If I had the time and energy I would also be asking why they have retained my details when they have no need to - surely in contravention of some data protection legislation?
  3. Egyptian geese on rye park lake this afternoon
  4. And if you have, would you recommend them? They advertise a lot in Living South (or whatever it's called these days!) but can't find any posts on EDF. Many thanks
  5. We just used Sam Payne (number above). He was really friendly, very tidy and did a nice job on our kitchen splashbacks.
  6. Could they be masonry bees? https://www.spab.org.uk/advice/technical-qas/technical-qa-17-masonry-bees/ We have them in one of our chimneys.
  7. Female blackcap in our garden (near Peckham Rye) this afternoon. First I've ever seen, but maybe I haven't been looking very hard....
  8. Anyone used and would recommend a 'man and van' who would be happy for 1-2 hours works shifting a couple of bits of furniture from Peckham to Nunhead?
  9. MAK, Live in Nunhead and got long route home via ED train station last night so walked past the Tescos between Fusion gym and Peckham Rye Park/Common - think this is the one you mean? Was being looted at 8:30 last night, so goodness only knows what is left of it now. Basically kids coming out with booze and dozens of others milling around. Atmosphere was a little menacing to say the least.
  10. Meant to ask if anybody had tried http://www.grannynet.co.uk/local-group.php ? My mum isn't great on the computer, but can manage the odd email! Seems they may be trying to establish a grannynet playgroup.
  11. Hi, Just been looking through the forum for exactly what you have been searching for! I used to take my eldest to the Coppleston Church Centre (Coppleston Road runs North from near ED train station and is near corner of Danby Road SE15) play session on Tuesday mornings 10-12 where there were always a few activities set up - playdough/ painting, baby soft mat area, biscuits/coffee and songs towards the end of the session. it's a big hall so enough room for the kids to move around in without stepping on each other! Always very friendly with a good mix of childminders/ mums&dads and grandparents. I am going to suggest that my mum takes my (will be) 1 year old there in September/October. I live nearby, so any other grandparents who might be local to us would be welcome to meet for a playdate or meet up at nearby Warwick Gardens where there is a small but fun playground or even Goose Green play area. Please PM me if interested in arranging something for the autumn. Mrs Wiggle.
  12. they ought to be careful. someone might contact the council pretending to be them and ask Southwark to collect their unwanted wheelie bins. they might even go so far as to suggest that they have left them in the road to aid collection. some people.
  13. Pickle, Thanks so much for the link, just had a quick read through and it seems as you say that different brands suit different babies, so I think I need to follow your advice and find a session where I can get a proper look at some of the nappies available. Thanks again, Mrs Wiggle.
  14. Going through disposables at an alarming rate and wondered if anyone who had tried alternatives could recommend a brand to me? Been trying to sift through reviews on bambino mio and tots bots etc but there seem to be quite a few companies and I've no idea where to start. Also initial spend on packs seems quite high so don't want to get it wrong. My baby is quite well covered and they seem quite bulky do they cause chaffing on chubby legs and also he seems to have a sensitive skin - are there any problems with nappy rash? Looking forward to getting some guidance! Thanks, Mrs Wiggle.
  15. A while back I complained to the council following an incident where my mother in law (OAP) was harassed by a warden whilst sitting in her car as I jumped out to post a letter in a post box just around the corner. Admittedly she was in a resident's bay without a badge, but it wasn't a red route and was a no through road with plenty of space to park in. To cut a very long story short I returned to the car to find a tearful mother in law saying she had been given a parking ticket despite having offered to move immediately but that she hadn't been handed a piece of paper. I could still see him so jogged down the road to clear up what had happened. All I asked him to do was walk 50 feet back to the car to explain that she hadn't been ticketed, as she was upset. What followed was a tirade of verbal abuse and threats of physical violence as he 'didn't eff-ing have the eff-ing time to talk to some old lady when he hadn't given her an eff-ing ticket - and anyway, what was my eff-ing problem'. After I pointed out that he needed to calm down and all I had done was politely ask him to clarify what had happened he went absolutely ballistic - so I told him I would be reporting him to the council and walked away having taken his ID number from his shoulder. He followed me back to the car, leant through the window of the car and screamed at both of us (this time with hand gestures!). We had to drive off with him practically hanging through the window. I complained to the council (copying MP) stating his number, exactly what had happened and where and all I got was a standard reply saying that they had no reason to believe that he was nothing other than an exemplary employee as no-one had ever complained about him. I saw him a few weeks later screaming at someone else. It seems that breaking the law to enforce stretches to more than just parking 'illegally'.
