  1. If you love the Farrow and Ball colours but don't want the chalky finish, which is hard to maintain, you can get a colour match from Dulux. We did this at the B&Q on Old Kent Rd, just took in sample of F&B painted on to card and they matched it, we painted over the F&B with it and you can't tell the difference colour wise but the Dulux is more hard wearing.
  2. Hi I went along to this yesterday and it was great! Friendly group of people and some great tunes, without the need to read any music. Was a lovely way of breaking up the day working from home, would recommend. HP
  3. Hello and welcome to ED! I've been in the GG Community Choir for about 2 years and I really enjoy it. I would say that our approach is quite different from Note-Orious, we're quite a bit smaller and I would say probably a bit less formal (that is no criticism of Note-orious!) so it really depends what you are looking for and what suits you. At GG we normally encourage people to come along and try a session before they join up so if I were you I would try both out and see which you prefer! No substitute for just pitching up (no pun intended) and trying it out. Good luck and hope to meet you one Tuesday evening.
  4. We recently got 2 little guinea pigs (aged 5 months) but are going away on holiday for the first week of the school Easter holidays and need someone to come in, feed them, change water and clean out hutch (they live in an outside hutch) and ideally give them a bit of a cuddle. As it's school hols all the people we might normally ask will also be away. Has anyone used a local pet sitting agency etc who they could recommend please? thanks
  5. Another recommendation for Phil who came to re-hang a door for me this week - he did a great job, turned up when he said he would, stuck to his quote and offered to clear up afterwards. We'll now be asking him to come back and do some other carpentry jobs.
  6. I looked into this once, might be worth contacting local city farms. We didn't pursue it in the end, the donkeys were frankly diva-ish and we couldn't meet all the demands on their riders :-)
  7. There is currently a public consultation open on the proposed new Cycle Superhighways - anyone can respond and make their views known. See the TfL website for further information.
  8. I believe that the East Dulwich Academy of Music and Performing Arts (based at Goose Green primary school) is starting dance classes on a Saturday from September. You can get their contact details from the school. I have heard very good feedback about the music and drama lessons there.
  9. Excitement reaching fever pitch in GG Y4 about the production next week expecially now the lovely people at Just William have put their fab Alice in Wonderland display up in the window :-)
  10. I didn't enagage them. Unfortunately it just happened to be them selling this house. My preference would be not to deal with agents at all but that isn't necessarily an option. I know I shouldn't be surprised really - doesn't stop me thinking it's all wrong and wanting to put other people on notice - from recent experience it seems that there are a lot of properties going to sealed bids at the moment.
  11. I can only comment on my experience - which was of KFH. They may legally be entitled to do this, my point is that you would be reasonably entitled to assume that "best and FINAL offers" means exactly that. Otherwise the process is pointless.
  12. Precisely. You might as well not have the sealed bids process at all if the agent isn't going to honour it.
  13. We are looking to move house. We saw one last weekend we were very interested in and were told by the agents (KFH) that as there was a lot of interest and multiple offers it would go to sealed bids. They sent a letter out setting out the sealed bids process, which required all bids to be submitted by a particular time and date. We put our offer in. We were notified by the agent the next day that it had been accepted. We were then telephoned today by the agent to say that one of the unsuccessful bidders had become "very cross" on learning that he had been unsuccessful and had made a higher offer which the agent was "legally obliged" to put to the seller, and the seller has decided to accept. So, gazumping is apparently ok again. Please be warned that if you enter into a sealed bid process with KFH you cannot assume that it will be honoured.
