er, he can comment as much as he wants, as I can point out he's a bit hypocritical and personally I'll not be too worried about his remarks - which I'm sure are actually aimed at his countrymen anyway. France looks in as least as much turmoil as us right now, plus ca change

Away from Twitter and the Guardian Online, not seen much firm evidence of Britain tearing itself apart

My point was/is it's a bit rich coming from him..not sure that (accusing someone of being somewhat of a hypocrite) is mocking. but either way it stands - should get his own house in order I'd suggest before enlightening on us on the state of the UK.

Ok - 'torn British society apart'* for the semantically pedantic.. *in french though

Is that Macron President of a country whose 'yellow vests' protests have resulted in 10 deaths, over a thousand arrests and billions of euros of damage lecturing us on civil disorder? Surely not.

CPZ: Proposed Controlled Parking in East Dulwich
Hemingway replied to dulwichresident01's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Looked through the document this morning absolute no acknowledgement or suggestion that they've even thought about effect on local buinesses. Walworth Road and Peckham, although not as upmarket, were both badly effected as shopping areas when parking restriction were bought in (further afield Greenwich too). These business operate on thin margins even a 5% fall in footfall will have a big effect on many. -

Jimlad - tHe Toast Rack CPZ is that linked to a vibrant high street with lovely retail choices or just a residential area relatively near a station? I'm not worried about the cost and would benefit from guaranteed parking but I don't want Lordship Lanes shopping/eating/drinking options ruined. -

I agree - east of LL, saturday's the only issue for me from 10-4ish, and then going a bit further down whateley Road or Cyrenia/Silvester always delivers a space. This will cut footfall on Lordship Lane and so more restaurants, bars and shops will go bust, people really need to be carefull about what they wish for. -

Well put Rockets - 100% in agreement. Once independent shops and restaurants start to go on the Lane will be too late - just a council money grab. -

Locals don't but people from 'reasonably' nearby. Herne Hill, The Village,Camberwell etc just won't come to visit on public transport or walk, especially if wet or cold, nearly as much - local small retailers have it tough enough already without taking away non-local shopping traffic, even at the margins. A money grab. -

It's a cash grab by the council Apart from a few peak times (eg Saturday lunchtime) parking really isn't an issue - and I live on a road off the main strip Finally it will be detrimental to the many restaurants and shops on the lane that give East Dulwich its character Older locals may remember when both Peckham and the Walworth Road still had some shops that attracted wider buisness than just locals before parking controls were imposed. -
Hi, long shot (maybe). But I'm about to become a dad again at a fairly ripe age. Just wondered if there are any other older dad's out there to share experience/thoughts etc with! Thanks
