looking for help for Vintage Toy that needs fixing
Dullesville replied to Saria's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Hiya, I love fixing things for people. Drop it over & I will have a look for you. If I can't fix it, my dad almost certainly can! Paul 07782371990 -
How many rooms? I can get you a good price on this, via some people I do work with. Regards Paul 07782371990

I've spoken with the guys at a local cabinet workshop about this. It's all in the prep. If you get the surfaces nice and smooth & dust free & apply correctly thinned paint, that has been well mixed and / or put through a strainer, then you will likely get a better result with good quality rollers - especially if you aren't skilled in spraying, as you will likely get some sagging if you linger too long, on any spot. Time is on your side, so a light sanding between coats is also an option.

Hi Tolly, I would be happy to help you out with this. I can quote you for wardrobes built from scratch & also get you some ideas on bought in stuff, including IKEA, etc. I know if a few companies that make wardrobes to measure far cheaper than I can. Give me a call on 07782371990 to discuss. Paul Give me a call

Hello, My name is Paul, I am a local handyman. The post by sweet girl is spot on - there is a good chance that a new relay is all that is needed. If you wanted to order one, I could fit it for you, or I could come over & do some tests, first, which would save a few quid if it isn't that. Paul 07782371990

Couple of things: 1) is it definitely rising damp? Various things you can do to figure this out, such as salt test analysis. Could be bricks need repointing, or a leaky roof, or badly sealed window, etc. 2) is there good drainage. Sometimes plants, etc, left against a wall can retain moisture. Also worth paying attention to soakaways, guttering & drains. Be happy to do an estimate, for you, or to do the work on a daily / hourly rate. Give me a call on 07782371990 Paul

Best / cheapest place to buy compost in ED!
Dullesville replied to emjorealdavies's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Sorry sue - didn't see your reply. The 99p lidl bags are actually 20l, so no - not that small. Not huge, either, so a little bit heavy on the single use plastic usage, if you are after huge amounts. Bags can be used as a plastic mulch, though, if carefully cut. Works out to 50quid per cubic metre, which is much cheaper than the council stuff. Can't speak for nutrient quality, but it looks good and black, with no major fibrous chunks. As for drying out, I think most composts will do that. It's kind of the point of a mulch, to prevent surface evaporation, by drying out, to keep the soil below moist. You either need to plant below the surface, if using seedlings, or keep well watered for seeds. -
Need a carpenter to build a garden shed
Dullesville replied to GoldCamberwell's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Hello, My name is Paul, I have various experience of sheds & also cabin building. May I ask your reasons for not wanting a flat pack shed? In my experience, they tend to be rather good value, whatever price / quality range you opt for. Second post up here asking for a scratch built shed, in a month or so. Last guy was unnecessarily rude when I enquired into his motivations. Reasons I could think of would be that you want something super cheap (osb sheets, which wouldn't weather well & would only really be cheaper if you do all the labour yourself) or something really high end, for habitation. Be happy to discuss with you, Paul 07782371990 -

Looking for someone to sharpen a lawn mower
Dullesville replied to Gulliver's topic in Request a Tradesperson
I love sharpening things. A noble (dare I say - manly? ) pursuit, if ever there was one, that engenders a feeling of invincibility. Back in to olden days, the village blacksmith would invariably avoid slaughter, if the village got pillaged. So, in summary, a good thing to have up your sleeve, in this pre-post-brexit era, at least until the rise of the machines & even then might come in handy. I've a number of tools, whetstones, etc, that would do the trick. I'm thinking dremel would probably work best, though. Where are you at? Hit me up on 07782371990, I'm around today & tomorrow, mostly. Paul -

Best / cheapest place to buy compost in ED!
Dullesville replied to emjorealdavies's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Lidl compost is actually insanely cheap. 99p a bag! -
Main thing is prepping the surface to be weed free, and level, and to do it quickly, once the turf arrives, and not to tread on it, until established. Clock is ticking, once it is delivered... You will have your own views on use of products -vs- what you want to spend & environmental impact, so would be happy to discuss these with you first. I've good availability this week & next, and charge ?12ph Give me a ring on 07782371990, if you'd like to discuss, or have any other gardening needs. Paul.
