  1. Pretty much as described above, but the specific steps (if you don't receive any automatic prompts) are: 1. Plug in USB cable 2. Go to "Settings" 3. Scroll down to "Connected devices" 4. Select "USB" 5. Select "Transfer files" Now, on your laptop, you'll find a "Moto G" device/drive where you can select and copy your photos and paste them to your laptop drive.

You could buy gold, silver, platinum, palladium, diamonds etc. and use those as "cash".
  4. There's an insomniac Blackbird round here. He starts singing solo at about 9-10pm and carries on right through until 3-4am when the others wake up and form a chorus.

  6. I'd suspect that the presence of an expensive looking camera in your car is more likely to result in a smashed window and the theft of the camera, fake or otherwise. Dash mounted cameras are generally designed to look forwards when the car is moving. Even assuming that you could keep it running and recording whilst the car is parked, what if your vandal keyed your car from the rear towards the front? All you'd likely see is them apparently innocently walking past your car.
  7. Royal Mail and the Post Office are completely separate businesses. Royal Mail has nothing to do with Post Office branch closures or the running of existing branches.
  8. You can report it here: https://forms.southwark.gov.uk/ShowForm.asp?fm_fid=276&np=1
  9. My ceramic disc taps in the kitchen lasted about 20 years before I needed to replace the cartridges. Much better than normal washers I reckon. However, I discovered that my taps still drip for a few minutes after turning them off because the flow straightener insert in the mixer has been cracked open by a build up of limescale. Water in the mixer spout (already past the ceramic discs in the taps) therefore continues to drip.
  10. Yep, Ocado still compares your order price to what you would have paid at Tesco. If it turns out Tesco would have been cheaper, Ocado sends you a voucher code to use on your next order. It's time limited and it's up to you to remember to use it though. The switch to M&S is next September I think. There's supposed to be a like for like replacement for all the currently supplied Waitrose products, but I'm a bit doubtful whether they'll be able to achieve this. We shall see!
  11. I'll state at the outset that I'm not a scooter/moped/bike rider, being firmly entrenched in the four-wheel camp, but I'd suggest that, unless you're an experienced rider, now may not be the best time of year to start given that it's getting colder, wetter, windier and darker in the mornings/evenings. Perhaps wait until the Spring when conditions should be better and you'll have a few months to hone your skills? Whatever you decide, I hope you don't literally "take the plunge"!
  12. But for real comedy value (and programme balance) you should combine your concept with the owners of small cars who insist on parking in the middle of two spaces.

    Minidiscs

After the failure of LaserDisc I remember a shop near Catford Bridge that had a Philips LaserVision player plus a big box of discs on sale for ?99. I nearly bought it but thought better of it. Still have a mountain of VHS tapes though and a Dolby Pro Logic decoder. fishbiscuits Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ...I was only really concerned about the > irreplaceable stuff. Things like "King Biscuit Flower Hour" recorded from pirate radio.

    Minidiscs

Yep, I've got a couple of USB interfaces but I think my MiniDisc player doesn't have a digital output, only an analogue one. I'll check though to be sure. However, I've got a handful of pre-recorded MiniDiscs which will likely be copy protected so I doubt I'd be able to copy those ones digitally anyway. I seem to recall you could get an interface with a so-called "SCMS-stripper" to get around that but I suspect they'd be pretty hard to find nowadays.

    Minidiscs

I loved MiniDisc and still have a working Sony MZ-R30 portable and some 1980's Aiwa HP-V99 in-ear phones which sound amazing. I'm currently in the process of transferring all my legacy music formats to digital files and, for MiniDisc, I've decided to just use the analogue output from the MiniDisc player (or, with care, you can use the headphone output) and record onto PC/laptop using wave editor software (search the Internet; there are loads of them). So not a digital-to-digital copy, but acceptable. I'll use the same technique for cassette and vinyl. Then I've got some 78's to do which will be a bit trickier but even more fun! Thank goodness I don't have any wax cylinders :)
  16. Not familiar with the artist I'm afraid but the picture (in case you don't already know) is the North end of Homestall Road as it was a few decades ago.
  17. The web site is brought to you by COPI: "...a non-profit creative industry alliance ? people in film, ads, tv & music who care about what's going on." I'll leave it up to you to decide whether you trust their interpretation of the data and if you think their scary call to action is justified.
  18. Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ...The printer firmware is up to date, and also > Windows automatically updates on my laptop. You mean the printer driver? A bit of a long shot but double check that you are actually using the latest, genuine HP driver: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/printers The last time I had printing problems it was because my genuine Epson drivers had been surreptitiously replaced for Microsoft ones during a Windows Update. Took me ages tinkering around before I noticed that they weren't the real McCoy :))
  19. I do hope those mice are outside and not indoors! No frogs or mice around here but I did suffer a brief plague of horseflys during the recent hot weather. Yes, hoRse, not hoUse! Two weeks ago one of the blood-sucking blighters bit me on the shin and only over the last couple of days has the bite begun to fade. It looked like I'd been attacked with a tin opener!
  20. Alas, the days of BT running their own email servers are long gone. My BT email service is provided by Microsoft (Office 365) which has been totally reliable. I'm not sure which BT packages/services you may need to get email provided by Microsoft, but it may be worth investigating if you're unhappy with Yahoo! email.
  21. I'd guess it's designed to be just uncomfortable enough to discourage people who aren't really ill from wasting the medical staff's time trying to get in when there are people with genuine medical emergencies who need to be seen. I was there in 2017 (definitely all hard metal seating in the main waiting area and not at all welcoming) and, after progressing through the two reception stages, was examined by a nurse who gave a wry chuckle and said it made a change to see someone who actually had something wrong with them.
  22. Me too. I'd thought that, along with the graffiti, the writing had been on the wall for Rye Lane ever since Jones & Higgins closed. Sounds like it might have made a bit of a comeback and is worth a revisit.
  23. You could try reporting the problem to Southwark's "Noise Team": https://forms.southwark.gov.uk/ShowForm.asp?fm_fid=786 Explain that you want to raise the issue with the owner rather than directly with the tenants, then let them handle it.
  24. Normally you would have another device, like a mobile phone, associated with your email account. Then you'd go through a "forgotten password" procedure which would involve the provider sending a code or temporary password to the phone. You'd use that password to regain access to your account and immediately set up a new email password of your own.
  25. @penguin68 Yep, that's a fair point. In my cases the card issuer was perhaps unlucky enough to get it "wrong" from my perspective on four occasions. Where my transactions (not the card as I perhaps misled you earlier) were blocked I did indeed have a trusty alternative to use to save myself from a potentially embarrassing situation. Anyway, perhaps this thread can be laid to rest once again... for a while at least :)
