Which just goes to show you can't judge by appearances.
  2. Snorky Snorky Snorky, The local population of crows and magpies probably kills more songbirds in a day than the local population of cats does in a year.
  3. yawn yawn ha ha ha yawn sigh ha ha yawn.
  4. there's someone asking about a lost cat from CP Road in the wanted section
  5. are they flying? If so, whitefly. crawling white bugs, not sure. If they are fluffy looking then mealy bug but they usually attack stems and leaves rather than base. a weak solution of washing up liquid and water sprayed on will usually kill bugs without harming the plant.
  6. There have always been haves and have-nots, there always will be. There are opportunities out there for anybody who wishes to take them, regardless of education. Some people are advantaged and privileged and some are not. Some of the poeple who are privileged do nothing with it and others who are not make a success of their lives. I really think people should get off their high horses. Why have a 'problem' with a kid who is privately educated. Surely the character is what matters.
  7. I'm mildly surprised it's elicited such a response. Any comment is a good comment though (to paraphrase).
  8. FYI Bawdy, there is a (free) cash machine in the newsagent in the village. It's good to hear they were so nice in the shop.
  9. I must be a real geek though, I actually found that Wiki page quite interesting

  12. Indeed, same thing happened to me and I couldn't quite let myself believe it was happening until the geezer grabbed me when I was going in the door. I was also 95% sure Mr. Asset was home.
  13. I think the old tale of having to drink 2 litres of water a day has been scientifically debunked recently. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the magical qualities of Ibuprofen for a hangover - works wonders. That and a good fry-up. Plus a hair of the dog. Scrambled eggs and champagne. mmmm
  14. unless you live near a delivery area. I used to live opposite a small industrial estate which had refrigerated trucks delivering at all hours and it used to drive me insane. And before anyone says 'well you shouldn't have moved there blah blah blah, what do you expect blah blah, urban living blah', I was there first. Actually, that was preferable to the drinks wholesalers who used to rearrange their metal kegs at 6am on a Sunday using a forklift truck. Those were the days. Not a lot you can do about it tho'.
  15. The whole of the New Town in Edinburgh was designed by someone who won a competition to do so in the 1700s so, no it's not unusual. I just hope he actually does redesign and reinstate the routemaster but I reckon it was all talk.
  16. My laptop is telling me that the battery has reached the end of ts useful working life and I need to buy a new one. I've only had the laptop for a couple of years and hardly ever use the battery as it's usually plugged into the mains. Do any of you computer geeks out there know if it is a scam by Dell and I should ignore the message? Is it possible that I have ruined the battery by keeping it constantly hooked to the mains and rarely discharging it?
  17. I heard on the radio this morn that 150 are closing a week
  18. mostly black, white chin and paws. Green eyes. No collar. About 6 years old.
  19. and SteveT, I will give you the benefit of the doubt, but I find your tone a tad patronising. Whether it has a direct bearing on my life or not doesn't mean I should not be concerned.
  20. I walked past this particular house on Melbourne yesterday morning. The Wooster and Stock board had been taken down and in its place was a Foxtons' board saying 'Foxtons sale'. Then, when I walked past later in the afternoon the Foxtons' board was gone and the Wooster and Stock board was back up. Do you think Foxtons are running around replacing other boards with their own?
  21. Indeed. And what is possibly more concerning is that the BNP canditate came 5th with 69,000 votes
  22. had they been cleaned?
  23. I could do with a number too. My window cleaner hasn't been round for over a year
  24. it's for rehydration
