  1. If you are looking for a friendly senior fitness class for a loved one or yourself, PUSH Studios runs a 45 minute Chair Yoga on a Monday at 12.15, followed by a 45 minute Senior Pilates class at 1.15pm and Silver Swans at 2.30 on both a Monday and Wednesday.

    Our Chair Yoga class with Sarah is primarily for those who have difficulty with transitioning from mat to standing, but who are looking to keep their bodies mobile and needing some relaxation and breath work.

    Our 45 minute Senior Pilates class with Colette, is more active and takes place on the mat, focusing on coordination, strength and balance exercises to prolong longevity.

    Finally our Silver Swans class with Fiona is a senior ballet class, specifically devised by the Royal Ballet for older learners - this takes place at the barre and in the centre - no experience of ballet is required. All these classes take place in a supportive and friendly environment with good access via the main doors in Blackwater Court.   3. Join Jenny for a 2 hour workshop that focuses on our legs.

    Starting with the feet we will take a journey upwards - from the soles of the feet, to the ankles, shins, calves, knees, hamstrings, quads, hips and glutes - to discover how they are connected. We will explore the importance of lower leg alignment and how it can impact its way up the rest of the body.

    For example, have you ever sprained your ankle to discover months later that your knee hurts? Let’s look at why that might be and the simple exercises you can do to reduce the risk of that happening again and improve the condition of the leg muscles and soft tissue. The workshop will be of special interest to anyone who wants to:

    • Improve balance Strengthen feet and ankles
    • Work on lower leg injuries Strength the knee and hip joints
    • Build power in the hamstrings, quadriceps and glutes.
    • And if you are a runner, triathlete, dancer, cyclist or training for a sporting event this would be a good opportunity to help improve your performance and avoid injury.

  4. Join us at PUSH Studios on Sunday 27th April 10.30 - 12.30pm/£25 for a 2 hour Beginners Pilates Workshop with Lizzy. If you been wanting to join a weekly pilates class but would like to get the basics under your belt, then this is a great way to get a good foundation. The workshop will cover ribcage and pelvis alignment , breath work and creating stability in the core, whilst explaining why Pilates is such a great practice for functional movement.   5. The benefits of resistance training appear to be limitless. A decade-long study of 3600 men and women over the age of 50 found that those with more muscle mass were at a lower risk of death across all major causes. Consequently, muscle mass can be considered one of the strongest indicators of longevity, more so than weight or body mass index (BMI). It is also well reported that for women, at all ages, but particularly entering perimenopause and menopause strength training can not only alleviate some of the debilitating physical and mental symptoms like joint ache and depression but also improve bone density, building long term, dynamic balance, mobility, and stability. If you start in your 30s you are really preparing for the future!

  7. Join Sianad this Thursday 6.20pm (27th March) for a brand new 45 minutes Pilates class focusing on improving muscle mass. Using weight barring exercises and props such as hand weights, resistance bands and kettlebells, this 45 minute Pilates session will focus on resistance and strength training. Only 8 people to a class £13.50.

PUSH Studios (off Lordship Lane behind William Rose Butchers) is looking for a Dance Fitness instructor for an evening class and an alternate Saturday morning class (possibility of more classes from the New Year). Candidate ideally has a an exercise to music qualification/ fitness qualification or a background in dance - great enthusiasm and love of dancing required.     I hope that you don't mind my butting in but we'd love it if you guys wanted to come to Push Studios next Friday 10th @ around 10.30am to join us for a free (Starbucks!) coffee to meet other mums and mums to be, its a coffee morning arranged in conjunction with the NCT and we'd love to see you so you guys can meet each other (I'm a Mum of two young'uns myself so know how much it means to information exchange), I'm also an instructor @ Push hence the location!
