Piloxing is an aerobic exercise that combines the power, speed and agility of pilates, boxing and dance.   5. Our fabulous adult senior ballet class at PUSH Studios, Silver Swans, starts back this Wednesday at 2.30pm. Whether you danced back in the day or a complete beginner and looking for a friendly social activity that will promote physical wellbeing, come and give it a try. All levels of abilities are welcome.   7. Free taster session of DISCO FIT at PUSH Studios on Wednesday 11th Jan at 8.05pm. If fully booked please join the waitlist as there will no doubt be cancellations. Using uplifting hits from different decades come and join us for a full body, easy to follow workout. If you used to do ballet as a youngster or have kept up with it and fancy a quick mini workshop, PUSH Studios is running an adult Improvers Ballet mini workshop on Wednesday evening (2nd November) from 8.05pm - 9.05pm with Emma Ferguson. The class will consist of a classical warm up at the barre followed by centre work finishing with a delicious stretch.   11. PUSH Studios will be starting a new HIIT & Weights Class on Sunday 18th September 11.45am - 12.45pm with amateur heavy weight Tiger Lewis and Linda Davidson. HIIT (high-intensity interval training) is a form of interval training that involves short bursts of super-intense exercise with periods of rest or lower intensity exercise in between. Proven to boost metabolism and build strength, it packs in the same benefits of lower and moderate-intensity aerobic workouts in a much shorter time. This provides excellent cardio conditioning, and if weight management is a goal, the two concurrent states will help with that too. Using small hand weights with repetitions is also great not just for training muscle but also bones. And release endorphins in abundance! This class will improve your mobility, coordination, posture and a great way to meet new people. Gift yourself space to unwind, reset, rest and restore in a yoga and mindfulness workshop specially designed for all those feeling the transitions and many changes that this time of year can bring us. The workshop will begin and end with guided waking sleep rest (meditation and yoga nidra) with a series of restorative and yin yoga postures designed to support both physical and mental health, replenish low energy reserves and nurture and nourish deep within.   23. Moving Menopause Workshop. Saturday 30th November 2.30 - 4.30pm, ?22 Push Studios, Blackwater Street, off Lordship Lane. Come along to this two hour workshop for women who are going through all stages of the menopause. This once little discussed period in womens? lives is now in the news, but we?ve still got a long way to go to provide better information, support and remedies for the millions of women who are experiencing or about to experience this transforming stage of our lives. Led by Linda Davidson and Jenny Smith it will provide an opportunity to discuss our thoughts, feelings and symptoms and raise questions about what can be a very difficult time for so many of us. It will explore how various types of exercise can help women deal with the most common symptoms and effects of the menopause. The session will include: Welcome and opening discussion Standing warm up and mobilisation Cardio session Strength training Pelvic floor exercises Balance and coordination segment Stretch session Relaxation including Yoga Savasana Closing discussion It will be a fun and friendly afternoon. Everyone is welcome whatever your experience or wherever you are on your menopause journey or level of fitness. Exercise modifications and adaptations will be provided to accommodate health or injury conditions.   24. Come and try out this intense full body 50 min workout for ultimate fat burn and toning. It involves you working your way through a different amount of exercises using a mixture of bodyweight and gym equipment, performing each exercise a set amount of time with minimal rest to make sure the heart is kept pumping and the body is sweating! Foundation in Yoga Workshop at PUSH Studios (off Lordship Lane behind William Rose) Saturday 9th February 2019 2-4pm With Matthew Cartledge ?22 This workshop is for anyone who would like to turn an interest in yoga into a more practical understanding. We will work through the basic poses of the physical practice looking at alignment, muscular engagement, and their energetic characteristics. We will examine how the breath is used to link the physical activity to the mental engagement and awareness of the practice. This workshop is suitable for anyone whatever their age and physical ability so long as you sit on a mat. Being bendy or athletic is not necessary for developing a rewarding experience of yoga, or it becoming a beneficial part of your day to day life. Mats and props are provided at the studio.
