Hi all, i am writing this on behalf of a neighbour who has not used the forum. She has only just found out that her daughter has been befriended by a 51 year old male and have bumped into each other on a number of occasions. Today she arrived home much much later than usual and said she had been playing and bumped into "colin" and had a chat for a while. Alarmingly he offered her a lift home today in his car and she got in. Thankfully she is home safely and unharmed. This male maybe harmless but in this day and age men shouldn't be befriending young girls and offering them lifts home. Mum would like to hear if anyone else has experienced anything like this with their children?

local freedom to express yourself
yummumbums replied to Mark Arram's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I am very sad to hear this news i wondered where you guys had gone i for one used to love your trips around the area it always put a smile on my face if the yummy mummy brigade don't like it they should take a hike they have ruined this area gone are the days when people used to have their speakers out on the streets on a sunday afternoon i miss those days it was brilliant. There are too many rules and regulations as long as it's not all day everyday and locks down at a reasonable time what harm is it doing really. I had a party for my son a number of years ago the music was not loud at all and yes the kids were quite excited playing party games some parents stayed at collection time and had a glass of wine or beer in the kitchen the last person left at about 9pm and i had one crazy neighbour complaining about the noise and how i was ruining the peace it was a childrens birthday party for gods sake i have never once complained about her karoke girly nights in once a week as i think everyone should live a little sometimes really people need to take a chill pill. -
I never let my kids out to trick or treat, i was called a big meanie by the kids and adults alike. A good alternative if you don't like the idea of trick or treating is to hold your own halloween party. I almost hate to admit it but i enjoy it more and more every year a tea of witches worms draculas blood punch and eyeball jellies always goes down a treat with the kids. If you hate halloween give it a go you never know you maybe like me and be converted!

Anyone live on the crystal palace rd whateley rd and ulverscroft rd section hearing the parties for the last 4 or 5 nights i forgive a party once in a blue moon into the wee hours but i have kind of had enough of it now having all 3 kids going i can't sleep because of the noise. I am hoping for a peaceful night tonight anyone else heard it out of curiosity?

Phone snatched from me on No.12 bus
yummumbums replied to msamykey's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think it is worth being cautious i was walking the kids back from peckham rye park turned off barry rd onto upland rd and noticed a young man cycling closely but slowly next to me i was on my iphone at the time. I finished the call but as i got further down the road the phone rang again i answered it a woman walking towards me gave me an alarmed look looking behind me. I turned round to see the same young man who was on the bike off his bike with his hand lunged towards my phone i slipped it straight into the front pocket of my jeans and he just stormed straight past me but i felt very lucky to still have my phone. It is worth being cautious at any time of day. -
I have recently just managed to stop action from a very threatening company for debts that have been sent to my address for someone else. Everytime i rang them they were really unhelpful saying there was nothing they could do about it apparently a court had confirmed the address for this person with the police. I eventually received the advice to send them a copy of your most recent council tax bill that will state who lives at your address and i finally received a letter on saturday saying they were not taking further action on this property but it has been months of worrying if i go out am i going to come back to an empty house. It worked for me it is worth a shot good luck.

yes we have just been offered a place here any views from parents with pupils in the school would be greatly appreciated. It was our last choice as i didn't warm to the headmaster and didn't like the minimal outdoor space and the chanting of latin before each lesson!!! I would like to hear all the positive things!!!

Secondary School Allocations
yummumbums replied to Renata Hamvas's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My child is bitterly disappointed having been allocated the school in last position on our list and we only put that down as an emergency option! Although we are disappointed some people have been less fortunate than us not getting a place at any school or none of the schools on their list at all. This is such a horrible process for the children and the parents, now all we can do is hope for a place popping up whilst sitting on waiting lists. Good luck everyone! -
Northcross Market to open on Sundays?
yummumbums replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I would like to know how many of those surveyed live on the roads that run off north cross road. I live on ulverscroft rd and i didn't receive one. I personally don't think there is a need for extra days and extensions but then again i am not a fan of the market. It is over priced and caters for the newbes with more money than sense. -
Anyone know what happened? my kids are getting excited incase there is no school tomorrow!
-
If you don't want to go far try the one at peckham pulse my kids loved it when they were little.

I remember being on the p13 with my two yr old son and this lady behind me kept making silly faces at him. He had a very puzzled look on his face so i turned round and smiled at the lady and i remember she said, "you're son is beautiful" to which i said "thank you" and my son promptly said "you are really fat and extremely ugly." I was mortified!

I live on one of the roads off Northcross rd and i am certainly not in favour of the market increasing in size or being on on extra days. I avoid it like the plague and would be furious if someone decided to close the road to cars on those days, why can't they move it to goose green park where those who love it so much have space to congregate without getting in the way of others. I agree it is over priced and a wannabe of the one in clapham.

"While you were out" -- Royal Mail false delivery attempts
yummumbums replied to Alex K's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well i have encountered this before, but to their credit i had to disappear out to do the school run and as i was walking up to the school quite far from my home a royal mail van swerved over and pulled up and the chap jumped out and said miss ********* here is your parcel, i was shocked, i couldn't believe he recognised me as i only have a parcel delivery once every couple of months! so it is not all bad! -
I think the best thing to do is to go and have a look yourself and make your own mind up if you check the website there are still some open days left in october if i remember rightly. I personally wasn't that impressed with it. The outside space is limited but they get buses to playing fields.
