    Parkin

Strikes me as the kind of thing Ayres in Nunhead might do...
  2. Went to Xoco last night and was really pleasantly surprised. Me and the hubbie had Indian and the kids both had fish and chips, all really nice, decently priced and v friendly staff... Will try to be more open minded in the future (it was me who said first off, what a weird and varied menu, it must be rubbish!)
  3. Ha! And I'd assumed it was Spanish, was soooo looking forward to nice tapas! THe menu looks very strange - currys, stir fry, burgers, steaks and lobsters???
  4. Matthew's team came to redo the outside of my house (front and back) a month or so ago. We had wooden sashes painted, all masonry work painted and a little bit of rendering and pointing where needed. Very pleased with the results, his guys worked quickly and to high standards.
  5. My feelings a few weeks in - staff the same (helpful but limited), timetable (little or no difference), reception full of merchandising and unhealthy snacks/food, general upkeep is terrible (non functioning toilets, cold water in showers and/or pool, a/c not working in the class rooms upstairs). When I get some time/energy I'm going to ask for some money back for Jun-Jul!
  6. Hooray, online booking is now working!
  7. ah well found, thanks
  8. i'm all for giving new companies chances, and yes it would be annoying if they shut the place down for a few days to sort stuff out BUT they have known for MONTHS they were taking over - they could spend time evenings/weekends installing stuff and getting ready.. and yes I too have my new card and login, but as you can't choose dulwich as an option online it is basically pointless... but like you said, i agree its a great value gym and so i'm ok to give them the benefit of doubt, but they need to sort it out by the end of this week at the latest (and fix all the broken toilets everywhere too!) :)
  9. And the exercise timetable - https://www.everyoneactive.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Dulwich_GX.pdf - but i still can't book because dulwich isn't an option to choose on the drpdown...
  10. I went in today and it was chaos.. they need to change everyone's card over to the new ones + give new logins for the website (https://www.everyoneactive.com/centre/dulwich-leisure-centre/ - which by the way is kinda pointless because when you go to book a class "dulwich" is not an option on the drop-down)... the place is in dissaray with lots of broken things, no cafe as they are redoing that, a million staff but they all look a bit confused and only 2 computers so they can only really serve 2 people at a time anyway...
  11. On Friday we ended up going to glamorous gravesend :) and went to the cascades pool there... Two big slides - my 5 year old loved one but was too scared to try the other, & 1 baby slide which my 3 year old loved. Waves every 30 minutes. Nice big pool but was v rammed and v heavy on the chlorine - tho I assume that both of these are because it was school hols... So all in all not bad but still a 50 min drive away... Will need to try wavelengths for comparison but I had heard that it all a bit grubby there..
  12. I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't for the life of me find the thread via search.... any reccos for "fun" pools with wave machines, slides etc within an hour's drive from Peckham pls?
  13. Simply airports usually have seats - you pre book them when you book the cab - though like others have said they can be a bit old and/or the driver isn't that au fait with how to install them!
  14. Hello all, well we have been back well over a month now, but I've only just now got around to replying here - sorry! We had an amazing family adventure over in Vietnam, my nearly 5 year old in particular absolutely relished it all, think she has the travelling bug now :) For my nearly 3 year old, some things were a bit of a push (food + lots of walking as we didn't take a pram), but he definitely still loved it, esp the beach time at the end! Anyway, for those that requested / are visiting Vietnam themselves soon, attached is the itinerary that we followed when in Vietnam, plus have added some extra comments about places we really loved or didn't quite get around to. I'd have no hesitation in recommending all of our hotels, all quite different but all very good. Vietnam is a fantastic and easy place to travel around the people are so friendly and helpful! If you are going by train, then it is much cheaper to just buy tickets there, but if you'd rather book in advance (which we decided to, mainly cos of the kids), then we used this company for both the train tickets and the halong bay tour - http://www.vietnamimpressive.com/ I would go back in a heartbeat! Let me know if anyone has any specific Qs xx
  15. Does anyone know contact details for http://www.dhfitc.org.uk/? I see they are running a holiday club over this half term, just wondering what they are planning for Summer. Or does anyone know already and/or have experience of their child going there? I quite fancy my little girl (5) doing a week trying out different sports there...
  16. I went and loved it! Could deffo have done with a bit more PR though... Went to Bussey, Canavans, White Horse (that was pants though), then back to Bussey... had to get back for babysitter around 2.30am, but really liked it, good vibes, good mix of people, great music. Deffo room for expansion next year!
  17. Just called, they said yes 9am tomorrow, I said was that actually realistic, the guy on the phone said he could only tell me what his systems were telling him :( I asked for comp, he is giving me three days worth of Internet free... Fingers and toes crossed it is fixed as my 3G (on EE) is also massively playing up, so I'm going to be working from a cafe all day tomorrow otherwise! Hope this is helpful
  18. Still no service on Ondine, I also work from home which is nigh on impossible now... Will call later when kids are having tea..
  19. I went to Cravings yesterday at 1.15pm and was v disappointed to find it shut (as i LOVE mexican food) - the sign on the door said its open 1pm-8pm, is this normally true as might try again today?
  20. The only thing I would add to the others - don't underestimate how knackered they will be for the first few weeks/months - my usually lovely little girl turned into a demon child post 3.15pm from september to about november. I think they are concentrating so hard in school in being well behaved and making friends and learning new things etc, that they are just utterly exhausted come the end of the day. So my tip would be - don't arrange too many after-school activities for the first few months, let him/her just do whatever they feel like (some like to run out their stress in the playground, others just want to slob out in front of TV).
  21. My other half took me to The River Cafe under Brooklyn Bridge (on the Brooklyn side) for my 30th, when we'd also just got engaged, & it was gorgeous, with amazing view over to Manhatten...
  22. Apparently this happened on Ondine Road too about 3/4pm on Friday - motorbike mounted pavement and nicked phone...
  23. My family membership runs out at the end of this month (on monday in fact) - i've been told by the gym that they won't do any further annual memberships until april when the "everyone active" are in charge. somewhat ridiculously they are now expecting me to pay just for march DD, which will cost me over ?100!! Or else I don't pay and I lose my kids' places in swim school... crazy! I am waiting for manager to call me back, but wondered if anyone else had this issue?
  24. Ok stuff sacks duly noted. Think we will also take sleeping bag Inners as apparently the bedding on the train isn't always clean... Do I need to take some sort of medical emergency kit (eg clean needles etc)?
