  1. she has compiled a list herself but there's only so much bloody disney princess stuff i can take! so if anyone has any ideas of stuff that has gone down really well with their 4 year olds that would be great as the relatives are on the prowl and asking for ideas....
  2. yep we've done the 241 before at london zoo - just getting a return from ED - works out cheaper than using your oyster and then paying full price at the zoo...
  3. that's funny about being able to get to the pool so early on your first day (rather than waiting until after 2pm) - somebody else above said that, yet on the site they are quite clear that you can't do that - "If you arrive and register between 10am and 3pm (3.30pm at Whinfell Forest), you will be directed to the Main Car Park, where you can leave your car and go off to enjoy the wide variety of bars, restaurants and sports and leisure facilities on the Village. Remember - you only pay for the activities you want to do. You can use the Subtropical Swimming Paradise from 2pm on your arrival day" i'd deffo like to get there early before the crowds if possible! anyone done this at woburn?
  4. i saw today in peckham peculiar that rosie's of brixton is going to open a branch at 28 rye lane - think its in the old acorn estate agents building. yum http://issuu.com/peckhampeculiar/docs/newspaper
  5. thanks all for the tips, i really appreciate that! we have booked to go to woburn for the first weekend of june - really lookng forward to it! we booked a lodge quite far out (as prefer the peace and quiet), so will probably hire bikes anyway (the hills don't really phase us as we're both keen cyclists, plus can't wait to get the kids in trailers!). will try and be ueber-prepared with the pre-shopping, but really helpful to know the on-site shop isn't too crazily priced. very excited :)
  6. Can I be cheeky and resurrect this thread... I'm looking to squeeze another break in before my oldest starts school. So would be 2 adults, a 4 year old and an (almost) 2 year old, probably over a weekend. Which resort do people recommend or are they all much the same? Is going at the weekend a different experience to midweek? Anyone been to the resorts in Northern Europe? thanks x
  7. Weather looks good ish tomorrow - any inspired ideas of where to take my nearly two and nearly four year old? Am thinking maybe out to the countryside/woods for a nice walk somewhere....
  8. my brother and his teenage girls are coming down this friday and want to check out camden market - does anyone know if its definitely open on good friday? thanks!
  9. the florence in herne hill or victoria inn on bellenden road are the only two i know, but i'd also be interested to hear if there are any more central pubs/restos with playrooms...
  10. We've used Colin on numerous occassions - he laid patio down in our front and back garden; and he's also done a number of decorating jobs on a couple of flats that we rent out. he is good value, incredibly nice and (most important of all!) very reliable! Definitely reccomend
  11. My other half plays in the Monday night league, Seven a side on the pitch behind dulwich hamlets. They're often struggling for players so PM me if you're interested and I'll pass your details on.
  12. sorry for the delay, i've been away - but thanks both for the input, am gonna sign up later this week!
  13. I now have two kids doing swim school at the leisure centre, which means ?50 per month. It looks like they've got an offer on at the moment that if you pay up-front it works out at ?85ish per family (2 adults, 2 children) per month. I'd love to do more exercise and evening classes would be the best for me (don't fancy running round Peck Rye in the dark at the mo!), so I'm seriously considering signing up, just wondered if there were any other members here who recommended it or otherwise? is it easy to get into evening classes or do you have to book up miles in advance? are the classes actually any good (i'm really not into working out in the gym itself, much prefer classes)? what about the creche, how does that work out? Any tips hugely appreciated!
  14. Hey Anya, hope you're really well! We took the kids to the christingle at St. John's last year and it was really lovely, Nancy really liked it (tho I nearly had a heart attack when she nearly set light to someone with her christingle candle). It is hugely popular, so be sure to get there early - http://www.stjohnseastdulwich.org/the-goose-green-centre - looks like there's one at 3 and 4.30 on Xmas Eve xx
  15. i dont' really have anything new to add, but i just wanted to echo what peachpie said - i also had a v slow breastfeeder (and painful too until i sorted out his tongue tie!) and found having a (at times) needy toddler there at the same time, mega stressful, but it does get much easier when the little one learns to nurse quicker and/or when you start weaning - my two are now 3.5 and 1.5 and turning into best chums, which is so lovely to see! hand in there xx
  16. We are meeting some friends there on ugh day for lunch and a play for the kids as it's vaguely halfway between our houses and I've heard its good for kids,,, any tips on where to meet and what to do?
  17. neilson99 - you are right, cos if you go down there at the weekend there are parking attendants swarming around there
  18. I got fined there a few months back and appealed but to no avail (& I know someone else who did the same and also failed) - think lots of people get caught there as the road seems quite narrow so people think they are being helpful by parking on the kerb!
  19. We are heading there with our 3 and 1 year old at the start of October staying in a villa in the north east. I think this will be a different kinda visit to the ones we had pre kids ;) but anyone got any hot tips of what to do while we are there?
  20. does anyone know if they're holding one soon? for kids that would be starting sep 2015? can't find anything on their site and my other half went in to ask, but no one has called him back. surely this is the season when all schools have their open days?
  21. Anyone found a good way to do this? Sellotape obvs ruins the paintwork, and white tack just doesn't seem to stick well enough... I know its a v dull question but is there a better way to get kids' artwork (on paper and cardboard) onto walls?
  22. Less than ?100 for soft play at peckham pulse (1 hour for up to 20 kids then free use of upstairs bit for birthday tea). Second nuns head for a great deal and great space. Not sure of prices but you could also try back room at the Montpelier or outside bit of the herne tavern.
  23. Thanks everyone for their advice, much appreciated. His temp today has definetky been better today, averaging about 37.5 I'd say (though the teething pain continues apace, poor fellow, constantly clutching his face and not happy!). If his temp goes up again I'll be sure to get an appointment with the gp. Thx again, good to know for next time at the very least x
