  1. The Manducca is good and also has the option to carry on the side (hip)
  2. It would be interesting to know who funded this "research". My daughter has a peanut and nut allergy and I suspected she would have from the moment she was born even though it didn't present itself until she was 3. I doubt there was anything I could have done about it....
  3. Thanks guys, will look at that study. Well, I wasnt saying that people shouldnt bring there own food for babies, I always do. I was just saying that it freaks me out when I see anyone open a food packet. I always call ahead to check if somewhere is nut free and we don't go there if it isn't. My daughter is five and is quite good at not taking food from people or touching food but she doesn't always listen. I miss peanut butter!!!
  4. I hate people eating their own food anywhere cos my daughter has a nut allergy. It sends me into a panic! Someone got out a family pack of peanut bars on the train and I had to ask him to take them off of his kids until we got off (train was jam packed and they were sitting next to her). I can imagine that I must get on people's nerves when I freak out about nuts (such as the dad who got irate because my daughter's school wouldn't let his child bring in her favourite lunch - peanut butter sandwiches) but it is life or death for us....I spend most of my time at MacDonalds anyway as nowhere else seems safe enough. Oh and the lady who offered my girl a chocolate nut yesterday freaked me out!!
  5. I can also say that my girls also love slds. However, don't join a saturday class. The building gets over-crowded and you feel like you are in a cattle market. I nearly left there until we moved to weekday classes and realised how much more relaxing it was. One of my daughters has anaphylaxis and because they are so strict I trust them. My other daughter had selective mutism and the teachers were very kind and gentle with her. My youngest has medical needs and I won't worry as much sending her there as I would with a more relaxed school, especially if she wants to carry on when she is older. It's not perfect (I hate crowds) and I don't have much to do with the principal so can't really comment but my girls like her. I think it's the kind of place that irritates parents but keeps the kids happy (well, my girls anyway).
  6. My friend told me that where she lives (stoke newington...not sure of borough), the sibling policy does not apply if you are outside of the catchment area. This was changed this year so hopefully other boroughs won't follow suit.
  7. Are they sure that they are chest infections? Sounds stupid but allergies manifest themselves in many different ways and the chest is one of the areas that can be affected with huge mucus build up.
  8. how does Blackheath compare to SLDS with regards to crowding and access to the building? My daughters actually LOVE SLDS, however, I end up feeling frazzled and fed up after every visit simply due to over-crowding,, too many stairs and no parking spaces!
  9. I had accupuncture with two of mine and went into labour exactly 12 hours later both times. I think often long, drawn out labours mean quick births
  10. when my daughter suddenly developed dust and cat allergies she had these symptoms and I thought it was hayfever. same meds for both anyway but worth gettinh checked so you know what to avoid.
  11. I love reading birth stories.....and I tell everyone and anyone about my three labours, lol
  12. the charity shop Sue Ryder in forest hill has one (saw it in the window). Maybe call and ask about the size and make. It was ?49.....not sure how that compares with others.....
  13. Had a lovely time on Virgin with a baby flying to NY and flew with a baby and toddler to LA on Virgin. Actually enjoyed the flight, I wouldn't even consider flying with anyone else for our next trip.
  14. I keep going back and forth about the multipla (the pope mobil...). Going to look at a almera tino later. Very useful to know about the multimac though (incase baby number 4 decides to join us...not the plan tho).
  15. which corsa is it?
  16. mmmm......correlation and cause.....not convinced by that article......I think allergies are caused by a complex combination of inherited genes and can be aggravated by environment
  17. Wow! Thank you so much for the info.
  18. Hi I have a 7 seater but want to get a smaller (second hand) car. Does anyone know which cars will fit 3 carseats in the back? Any experience of the nissan almera? Thanks M
  19. I called HMRC today. Seems far less hassle to do it direct with them than going through a nanny tax company!!
  20. So how do you do this? Do you have to register with HMRC first? Do you simply enter the nanny's details and pay the tax and NI online?.....please can I have more info
  21. I think many babies are lactose intolerant (or whatever the term is) for a while and it goes away. Basically I can feed my baby as long as I don't have any dairy, as soon as I do phlegm spews out both ends for a couple of days (yuck, I know). All 3 of mine have dairy intolerances or allergies. My first was always below the second percentile. She has severe allergies and even though these foods are being avoided she is still tiny (she's nearly six). She is super healthy and energetic. I no longer fret about her size. My middle child is huge and always has been (even though she has allergies too). So, not sure stopping dairy will cause weight gain to speed up. I think the pros of stopping dairy is that baby might feel better if dairy was causing any discomfort. I wouldnt worry about weight or believe what health visitors say about it.
  22. Thank you!
  23. Hey everyone, I am just about to register with a company so I can sort out tax and NI etc for my nanny but am worried about making a payment to a company online incase it isn't legit. I know the company Nanny Tax are legit but what about Nanny Wage Ltd? (yearly registration is half that of Nanny Tax - is there a reason why???). Just don't want to thow money away.....
  24. Personally I think it's a habit and I wish there was a kind way to break it. My first baby had a bottle at 11pm from 6mths and slept through the night. I don't think it was because she was full but because it wasn't as much fun waking up for a bottle. (I gave her a bottle because she was losing weight but still bf during the day) My next two refused bottles so I spent 2 plus years feeding my second all night long and my 9mth old appears to be heading the same way. IMO they don't need it.....it's just that we can't find a kind way to show them that.
