  1. The photo from St Barnabas’ Facebook page is incredible. It was well publicised in Dulwich Village - I saw flyers in the shops and a poster outside the church on Calton Ave. It’s an annual event now, hopefully you can make it next year!
  2. It was lovely to see so many people enjoying Dulwich Square on Christmas Eve for the annual community carol service. I suspect it was their biggest turnout so far. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSp2AEEjGvv/?igsh=MWI3ZGNhaXBsaTB3aw==
  3. School Street restrictions in Southwark only apply during term time. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking-streets-and-transport/parking/parking-permits/school-streets
  4. I’ve reported two instances of mobile phone theft to 999 in recent times. On both occasions several police units have arrived very quickly - in one case they found the perpetrator.
  5. Interested to know which sections don’t require dog owners to use a lead - there are signs at all entrances and I have never noticed signs reversing those instructions anywhere.
  6. If only all dog walkers in Dulwich Park followed the rules about keeping their dogs on a lead.
  7. Rockets perhaps you could suggest that @first mate does? I have tried but without success.
  8. It’s a problem across the whole of London, sadly Dulwich Village is not immune.
  9. @enthusiast101 if you witness this again please call 999.
  10. The council’s statement simply clarifies that Lordship Lane is not within the scope of the scheme. It’s seems once again that you’re trying to find a smoking gun where there isn’t one @first mate.
  11. Pretty sure Lordship Lane was out of scope for the Melbourne Grove CPZ, I’m not sure why you’re conflating these two things. It would be helpful if you could provide a source for what you say the council stated, as in the past you’ve said the council have said things and then ‘not been able to find them’.
  12. No, the original post is about the collapsible School Street bollards that are flush in the road - see the photo.
  13. Nairne Grove has a school street - with two collapsible bollards in the road at one end. Perhaps you should rethink the post above @CPR Dave?
  14. Definitely not a charity, but a for-profit community interest company (CIC). https://www.londoncentric.media/p/we-r-blighty-fundraising-regulator-criticism-broke-rules
  15. I highly recommend using the TfL Go app. It states it’s due to emergency electrical works.
  16. It's bizarre that so much focus is placed on the most vulnerable road users and not on the glaringly obvious drivers of heavy, large vehicles which have the capacity to cause serious injury and death.
  17. Thank you for your gritting efforts. It seemed the freezing overnight conditions took the council by surprise. Worth noting that I also heard of similar multiple accidents with injuries due to black ice on Greendale and further afield in Southwark, so it’s not necessarily a problem with the surface material but with the lack of gritting.
  18. I think that stat is being taken a bit too literally here - no one’s suggesting cyclists are riding down tube tunnels. It’s just a comparison of overall journey volume. Joking aside, the real takeaway is that cycling levels are rising fastest in inner London, which has big implications for congestion, air quality and street design. That’s probably the more useful angle to discuss.
  19. It shouldn’t rely on members of the public repeatedly raising it though. It is an ongoing issue and has been for many years. Just today there was a Foundation Coach idling on East Dulwich Grove, whilst also blocking the 37 & 42 bus stop. The Foundation Schools need to get a better handle on their coaches.
  20. Trossachs Rd usually do one
  21. Here’s the email address recommended from Alleyn’s website. I would cc. your local councillors also.
  22. Back to the actual topic: it really doesn’t matter how much hi-viz I wear if a driver is coming straight at me while looking down at the phone they’re holding on the steering wheel - exactly what happened to me yesterday on Turney Rd. I only avoided them because there were no parked cars and I had space to swerve. Encounters like this aren’t rare; they’re something I see almost every day. That’s why it’s so strange to see people insist that hi-viz is the answer. The real issue isn’t whether potential victims can be made brighter - it’s that too many drivers are on the road without proper care or attention. Until that’s addressed, no amount of fluorescent fabric will fix the problem.
  23. It’s incredibly sad to read about the death of a 34-year-old who was killed by a hit-and-run driver while cycling on the Old Kent Road. My thoughts are with their family and friends. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c39pk8yz1kmo And this weekend, yet another dangerous driving incident made the local news - a driver crashed their car into a wall and lamppost in Peckham. https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/peckham/man-arrested-after-crashing-into-lamppost-and-wall-in-peckham/ Thankfully no one was seriously injured, but it’s another reminder of how serious the consequences of careless or reckless driving can be.
  24. Brilliant news, well done Southwark! 24/7 bus lanes and bus priority measures will make the most difference imo.
  25. It’s worth noting that some drivers (possibly all that you see) may have exemptions from the school street restriction: The following are eligible for a School Streets parking permit exemption which allows them to park at the restricted times: vehicles already registered to residents and businesses in a School Streets zone emergency vehicles registered school minibuses SEND vehicles registered Southwark AD permit holders or disabled badge holders living inside the restriction, or those dropping off children to the school parents or carers of children with specific access needs, such as mobility issues, who have applied and been given an exemption
