Impact of Goodrich and St Anthony's School Streets.

Worth raising with local councillors or directly to [email protected] -
I wonder how the Dulwich Bus Campaign think the existing P4 bus service could be improved? Has there been any assessment of the reasons for delay?

That’s awful - I really hope no one is seriously injured. It might be worth updating the title so it clearly reflects what happened: a driver crashed into a pedestrian. The way we describe collisions matters, because it shapes how people understand responsibility and risk. If a cyclist hit someone, it would sound odd to say “bike hit pedestrian” without mentioning the rider - yet when cars are involved, the driver often disappears from the wording. Using accurate language isn’t about blaming anyone before the facts are known; it’s simply about recognising that vehicles don’t act on their own. Drivers have agency, and it would be helpful if the wording reflected that.

Maybe they have a lot of children arriving early for breakfast club? The school street timings should match up with when children are arriving / leaving school.

There is information provided on this - I’ve copied and pasted below for anyone who missed it. Sounds like the council did a very thorough job. Parking & Loading changes: The response to the consultation question about removal of parking bays showed majority support for removal, and this was followed up with surveys of affected businesses to understand their needs. More in depth surveys were commissioned to understand the impact of the proposals on existing businesses, and if there was opportunity for improvement. This took the form of kerbside parking and loading surveys, in-person interviews with affected businesses, online questionnaires and site observations. The main findings were that majority of parking was short stay, and almost all businesses on the western side used the single yellow line outside their premises for loading which can continue under the proposed scheme. The design has subsequently been amended to remove more parking on the western side of the gyratory to provide wider footways outside the businesses. This can be applied for outdoor seating. Additional bays have been provided elsewhere to mitigate the reduction, as well as an increase in the number and location of disabled bays.

Southwark Council has issued a response on changes to planning in London, urging a rethink - “We have significant concerns over plans to allow developers to build fewer affordable homes in London, and to cut developer contributions to local communities. “Under current proposals, the fast-track threshold for planning applications in London would be cut from 35% affordable housing to 20%. “The proposals would also cut in half the levy that developers currently pay when they build, which helps pay for much-need local community improvements. “Today we have submitted our responses to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and Greater London Authority consultations and urged a rethink.” Read the council’s response in full https://southwark.gov.uk/planning-environment-and-building-control/planning/planning-policy-and-guidance/responses -

The most expensive membership they offer provides the ability to book 2 weeks in advance.

There are a few flaws in your argument @Penguin68. 1. The timed restrictions in Dulwich Village aren’t active between 5-6pm when you say there is a problem, in fact they end at 4.30pm. 2. If you are ever in Dulwich Village between 5-6pm you will see northbound queues, as there always was during the evening rush hour.

Thames Water?
-
No, residents who don’t return their bin to within the boundary of their property.
-
It’s the same for wheelie bins. So many bins are left out obstructing the pavement when there is plenty of room to store them within the property boundary.

Wandsworth issuing PCNs to "speeding" cyclists on Tooting Bec Common
march46 replied to Rockets's topic in Roads & Transport
This thread is insane. There are many drivers who have access to the park via its permit scheme for people with disabilities or poor mobility, or as a contractor or delivery driver. It’s clear that the 5mph sign applies to those vehicles, as they have speedometers and can therefore actually comply or not. -
They haven’t all been collected and it’s very much a problem if you are using a pavement and there is an obstruction - particularly if you are visually impaired, in a wheelchair or pushing a buggy.
-
As is everywhere. East Dulwich Grove was particularly lethal. The pouring rain last night didn’t help.
-
Sadly this is a problem every year and on every road.
-
You can check when the next collection for your road is here - https://services.southwark.gov.uk/bins/lookup But just a gentle nudge… please don’t leave them blocking the pavement if you can avoid it. It can make life hard for people pushing buggies, or if you’re a wheelchair user or visually impaired.
