Gina Ford potty training - does it work?
julia2009 replied to Lochie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I was reluctant to start potty training as didn't know where to begin, then nursery brought it up and said I should bring spare clothes in for my son and he started training there during the week. As there were a few of them training at once, he went to the toilet no problem (already hated the potty at home) In the first week he only had a few accidents. It took about 2 weeks for him to use the toilet at home too (we got a new seat for the toilet at home that has a small seat within it, so he could sit on the big toilet). This was all in December when he was 2.5 yrs old and last week, he announced he didn't want to wear a nappy at night and that seems to be that...In our case the peer pressure worked a treat as his friends were using the toilet. At home giving him stickers/watching fireman sam in the bathroom on the laptop worked so that he felt the whole thing was fun....as he is due to have a little brother this week, this could all change! -
For any ladies who are around during the week, a couple of us who are already off on maternity leave are planning to meet at mine so we can sit in the garden tomorrow/Thursday 24th at 130pm to enjoy some of this nice weather we are having. If you would like to come along, please send me a PM and I will send you my address. This is all assuming that junior doesn't make an appearance this evening of course! Have a nice day Julia xx

Lochie, I'm with you on this one! My son will be 3 in May and anytime we took him near a hairdresser (inc little clipper) in the past he went crazy which resulted in no haircuts so far...untill last weekend! They show cartoons etc in little clipper so I brought along my sons favourite DVD & the lovely ladies put it on for him. He sat like a dream and now has a haircut! Felt like the first motherhood achievement, I was delighted!

Is it worth getting a Bugaboo Cameleon travel bag?
julia2009 replied to mooncake's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have one as it was given to us but only used it once in 2.5 years...personally I wouldn't bother buying one. The one time it was used, was filled with christmas presents not the buggy as the buggy was being used. Hope that helps J -
Cant remember where we bought ours but I wish we didnt bother buying the harness, as I was told afterwards (on a baby first aid course) not to strap the baby in as if they choke it is not practical to get them out quickly. Hope this helps!

Are the footpaths in Dulwich Park very slippery?
julia2009 replied to Sanne Panne's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We were there yesterday, the paths are covered with snow and you will have to be careful and go slowly but ok to walk on if you are out for a stroll. -
Advice wanted - Baby won't take bottles..
julia2009 replied to amydown's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I had the same problem and my son took the bottle when I went into town one afternoon. Before this he was screaming the house down when a bottle was brought near him. When I was completely away he took 2 bottles with no problems at all....hope this helps. -
I used the NUK Nasel decongestor. I got it in sainsburys pharmacy and it was great. It sucks the snot out. Hope this helps.
