  1. I'm going to go read up on it and will get back to you.
  2. Like I said, The political union of Scotland and England (and their territories). I never suggested that NI, Wales and others aren't part of it. They aren't the Kingdoms which united to form the UK though. They aren't even Kingdoms. Although this is interesting. I didn't realise that the facts about what countries are part of a political union could be established by opinion.
  3. That may be what it is called but the United Kingdom came into being when the Kingdoms of Scotland and England were united. Northern Ireland isn't a Kingdom. That's why it is, "The United Kindon of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" not "The United Kingdons of Great Britain and Northern Ireland"
  4. Britain - Is from the Roman name for the province that was here. Great Britain - Is a geographical term referring to the big island on which England, Scotland and Wales are found. United Kingdom - Is the political union of Scotland and England (and their territories.) British Isles - Are the group of islands including Great Britain, Ireland, Isle of Mann, Shetland, the Hebrides etc.

    Ham. Help.

How do you fit a shoulder into a can?
  6. You know back in my day you could say "them fish..." without being accused of speciesism.
  7. True, no need to be rude to fish because of your guests views.
  8. It could do with being a bit longer.
  9. I made this up off the cuff recently when doing a roast for a vegetarian friend. It worked very well. Caramelise onions in butter Add garlic and finely chopped mushrooms Add lots of balsamic vinegar Add a little tomato paste Add some rosemary Add some vegetable stock Thicken with flour
  10. The colloquial use of the term ?believe? really gets to me. Someone just asked me if I ?believe? in the national infrastructure plan. Well there is a copy of it sitting on my desk but I concede that this alone is not reliable proof of its existence. The look on their face indicated that they weren?t trying to pass the afternoon by considering a philosophical conundrum. I wonder if this world will wake up tomorrow to find that it is actually a butterfly that was just dreaming that is was a universe filled with inane annoyance.

  20. So basically translated the OP states. ?Please stop saying things that I disagree with.?
  21. Sadly where I now live there is little or no ethnic diversity. Consequently, in order to ensure my PC aspirations for my offspring is realised I have taken to getting the kiwi out and ?blacking-up? on the weekends. I then read aloud from the sleeve of an LKJ cd which I was given back in university by a white girl with dreadlocks. I found her utterly fascinating at the time. Mostly because her father had a very big boat.
  22. No, I?m still quite engaged by them but semicolons, meh.
  23. Who is in government. I mean does it really make any bloody difference? Really?
  24. We do. People from all over the world can read this forum.
