Dont let yourself get too worried the area is mostly ok these idiots are in the minority and in no way reflect the character of the area. Try to stay excited about your move and enjoy your new start

Its not just the type you describe who refuse to pick up their dog poo i've also witnessed a number of parents walking their children to and from school along by goose green and adys road allowing their dogs to deposit while they continue to walk on. When challenged they point out the lack of dog bins as if thats a valid excuse.

Its a shame that everyone now seems to have a poor opinion of staffies and this post seems to be singling them out more even though it wasn't a staff that attacked poor woody. I can understand everyones concern about bull breeds but there not all bad i have two staffies both boys and i have now problem with either of them they play in the park and socialize well with other dogs in fact one of mine was attacked earlier in the year my another dog that was not a bull breed and yet he still remains friendly most dogs regardless of breed have the capability of becoming aggressive and all owners have the responsibility of ensuring any dog they have is trained and socialized properly and if not they should be appropriately punished if the dog becomes dangerous or out of control. However the fact that this post seems to be only referring to staffies is unfair and will cause problems as i myself have experience today when a complete stranger verbally abused me when i was walking my dogs with my two year old niece i was told my dogs were dangerous and should be muzzled despite being fully under control and leaded. When looking at the issue of dog problems it is not just staffs but rottiweiler's, german sheppard's, akita's even jack russells have all been the subject of dog attacks so lets keep this discussion fair and look at the deed and not just brand a particular breed. You wouldn't label all drivers dangerous just because of one idiot so lets be just as fair to the dogs.

Despite pitbulls now being banned some are still owned legally as when the change in the dog law occurred many owners took up the opportunity offered to them and had them chipped and registered with the police allowing them to keep them without then getting in to any trouble about having an illegal dog

I am a responsible dog owner and am equally sure that most owners actually are. i have two of the dogs who are staffs and i have had no problems with my animals attacking any other dog in fact one of my dogs has been attacked himself. My dogs are friendly and well socialized and can happily play in the park with other dogs. Not all owners of bull breeds are irresponsible despite what you may think most of us do have them on the leads and we do clean up their pooh. Most of us love our dogs,not because of the hard-man status that is attached to them but because they are loyal and loving dogs. And Battersea have in the past successfully rehomed more staffies then any other breed taking from the irresponible unfit owners and giving them to responsible ones, which is where one of mine came from. Like everyone else i am totally shocked and disgusted by the actions of the owner and dog that attacked little Woody the owner is clearly an unfit owner and should be held responsible before another attack but everyone should remember the dog involved was NOT a staff and NOT a pitbull and therefore this incident should not be turned in to a witch hunt for all bull breeds as the actions of one are not the actions of them all and ther are many good dogs and responible dog owners out there.

hi emily, I also wish to offer you my sympathies for what happened to your dog, i hope Woody is feeling better and wish him a speedy recovery. I also feel i need to point out that it is the owner who should be blamed he sounded totally irresponsible not just in his attitude to the attack on Woody but his whole behaviour in keeping and training his own dog. But i would like to urge people not to turn this in to a witch hunt of all bull breeds as it is the owners and not the breeds. I myself have staffies and they are friendly and well socialized and enjoy being with other dogs in the park they are not the "devil dogs many people believe. Also like you one of my staffies was attacked when playing in the park he had a bad leg injury but thankfully made a full recovery and still did not become aggressive and remains his friendly self. I again send my best to you and woody and hope he gets better soon but ask everyone to focus on the owner who is to blame to ensure no other animal suffers rather then turning it in to a campaign against all bull breeds as there are many good ones with responsible owners out there.

yes the lady with the small wiry dog , she drives a red mobility scooter and she,s always rude when people ask her to pick up her dog poo, but after he fine i think she will have a change of heart

i live on adys road and in the mornings find it funny that after the school run there seems to be much more poo locally maybe its its the mums bringing the kids to and from school who cant seem to find the time to clear up there dog mess, its funny there seemed a lot less on adys, ondine and oglander when its school holidays. Also the lady in the mobility scooter likes to leave her dogs mess but she got a fine recently so that might change her mind on clearing it up

well said slims, i have a staffie myself and i'd hate for people to wrongly blame my dog for something it didn't do. i feel really sorry for the owners of the poor cat but we can't make this into a witch hunt of every staffie in the area there not all bad and nor are the owners. Blaming the wrong person or the wrong dog is unfair and should stop
