  1. Steve came and fixed my washing machine the week before Christmas. Speedy, no nonsense, honest and fairly priced. Would use him again for faulty appliances without hesitation.
  2. Another dog walk took me along Townley Road just now. It seems to coincide with Alleyn's after school activities. One coach and two red London buses parked, engines running on double yellow lines, near zebra crossing. Blocking one lane to traffic heading towards Lordship Lane. It was mayhem. One bus driver had blocked another so driver asked other driver to move, second driver pretended not to understand English, said he was Italian. This was my moment! I told him in my rusty Italian that where he'd stopped was dangerous, school children were crossing the road from JAGS to catch buses, if he couldn't drive legally he shouldn't be driving at all and he must move the bus immediately. It worked! The other driver thanked me. I took pictures! Alleyn's, JAGS, sort yourselves out. If you want to employ me in a permanent post as traffic manager, make me an offer. 3. Regarding Townley Road and cars parked with engines running.....just walked dog round the block along Townley. On outward journey saw chap in people carrier, reading while parked up, no lights on but engine running. I walked past and glared at him. But return journey, 20 minutes later, plucked up courage to ask him to turn his engine off. I explained how polluting idling engines were, and said that being to near to a school was especially significant. He told me that it was a Sunday, so it didn't matter. I politely explained that I live here every day of that week and also told him that there was to be a campaign about school coaches and air quality in Townley Road. He asked me what they were supposed to do and what century did I live in. I told him he was a selfish man, and I walked away....still with his engine running. I HATE having to confront thick headed, selfish people. Ps I did confirm he was waiting for his child but not sure if it was from Alleyn's or JAGS. All advice gratefully received.

  5. I think the freehold is owned by John, a community run bookshop sounds a brilliant idea....along the lines of The Ivy? Is there anyone out there who can advise?
  6. I popped in to Chener buy a couple of books today, there was a bit of a chat going on round the desk about what will happen when John retires next year...I don't want the bookshop to close and wondered what others thought? Ruby Graeme

  8. The dog's name was Sally, her owner was called Brenda. Neither are still alive unfortunately. I'll try and contact Brenda's family.

  12. I've met RCH through our tenants and residents association. I've only ever found her to be helpful, polite and completely on the ball. No hidden agenda that I could see. Suggest anyone with a complaint about anything this local gets themselves along to their own residents association meetings, become a councillor, write to their own MP or local councillor and change things that way.
