Strange goings on indeed. Would like to hear Ollie's immediate reaction. Happy with our result at Barnsley.

Take it you're referring to his interview in West Ham Till I Die There are things I do not like at all about Sullivan but I think this makes very interesting reading.

  4. What the feck is worth stealing in West Bromwich?

  6. Not a bad January. Through to the fifth round of the Cup, won four and drew one in the league, scored 21 while conceding 3, including thrashings of Millwall and now Leeds tonight. And Zigic becomes the first Blues player to score four since Kenny Burns in 1976....all hail Chris Hughton.
  7. Best time I've had at the New Den since Stern John scored in the 93rd minute. 6-0. Ha ha.
  8. Big welcome to the Europa League for both Manchester teams. It's not a bad little competition really, I've quite enjoyed the distraction from the Championship even though it looks as though we won't be joining you in the knock-out stages.

  10. And to think that Steve Bruce virtually gave him away to bring Clinton Morrison to Birmingham.
  11. Club Brugge forward Joseph Akpala gets more than he bargained for. Club Brugge
  12. Always thought of Martin Jol as one of the game's good guys. Think Spurs were a bit shabby to get rid of him, glad things are turning his way at Fulham.

And RD, New Street has always been a bit of a melting pot. Fortunately both are a bit calmer these days.
  15. Can't disagree that Leeds deserved a point - especially given a couple fo top quality saves Myhill had to make. What let them down was the lack of quality in the final ball, which led to too many long balls to the edge of the penalty area that were meat and drink to Caldwell and Davies. Good to see both teams approach the game in a positive attitude.
  16. Blues up to 8th, six wins in a row, two games in hand. Campaign for the beatification of Chris Hughton gathering momentum.
  17. Spent the day nursing my post-Brugge hangover. A brilliant game and result - Chris Hughton is performing miracles with the discards from last season and a bunch of freebies. And 7,500 Brummies enjoyed every moment of it and made most welcome by the whole town. Only concerns are that we're now three matches behind in the reality league, there's a possibility of more cost-cutting and player sales in January and that we may actually make the knock-out stages. ETA: Five wins in a row now, four away and two of those in Europe. Sneaking up the table.
  18. And Palace a very generous 12/5 at William Hill.
  19. Birmingham doing the Championship proud in the Europa League - last time we won away in Europe was at the San Siro in 1961!

  21. If Bentley plays this season the way he did on loan at Birmingham last year, expect very little (bar a very good goal against Coventry in the FA Cup). Complete waster.
  22. The real downside is an away trip to Watford on a Sunday afternoon.
  23. red devil Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Would you have swapped the Carling Cup to stay in > the Prem kpc? The PL is not all it is cracked up to be, the marketing hype and highlights do not make up for the mediocre football played a lot of the time (including the "big four"). As a supporter, it can be a lot better in the Championship, cheaper, easier access to better pubs, more realistic pricing and, comparing Chris Hughton's brand of football to Big Eck's, I've seen an improvement in entertainment on a decimated (and near to the true meaning there) squad (there are a number of teams in the division aiming to play better football than most of the PL). The final against Arsenal was, in the words of Mr Blue Sky, "the day we've waited for" (and yes, Jeff Lynne is a Blues fan). On that occasion, Eck got it right. And, as a result, we are in Europe for the first time in almost 50 years. To qualify for the group stages, we convincingly beat a team who has a decent record in the Portuguese league in recent years, playing in style. The man of the match was a local 17 year old who Eck would not trust to perform in the PL, but who scored a blistering goal, set up half-a-dozen good chances and showed the discipline to drop back and cover throughout the game. I am under no illusions about how tough it will be to get back into the PL, but given the difference in styles from last year to this (and the shenanigans in the background), a year of enjoying football again will not go out of place. So the answer is no.
