I was going to go to Whitstable, but felt that it was in danger of becoming over developed and as a 'traveller' rather than a tourist, I seek to tread lightly, so went to Hastings instead.
  2. Back in the early nineties I lived in one of the high rises at the back of Kennington park and Liam Og's was one of my regular drinking venues. It was a fine old boozer back then with quite an eclectic crowd, everyone from the local dealers off the estates to local comedians. I remember seeing Jo Brand at the bar on more than one occasion and Eddie Izzard and Mark Lamarr were part of the same crowd. I'm sure while Izzard is hanging out with Brad and George on Lake Como he's secretly hankering after being back on the Walworth Rd drinking a proper pint.
  3. Shouldn't it be Barak ? Bama?
  4. When I was on an Elephant to Camberwell crawl in 08 we started at The Tankard and finished at The Hermits Cave and included The Castle and The Corrib. Whilst not exactly salubrious, the Castle had quite a friendly bunch in there, unlike the Corrib whose sole customer drunkenly challenged all of us to a fight. There are some quite decent pubs around there though, The Beehive on Carter St was a regular haunt of mine many moons ago. They do seem to struggle to stay open though, since our crawl at least 4 have closed.
  5. I've been on several, in or around Camberwell, over the years. The last one included the last "lock-in" I enjoyed. It was at The Nags Head on Camberwell Rd at about 6.30 on a Saturday afternoon. They locked the doors then got out all the ash trays and started puffing away.
  6. "Leaping out of the upstairs of a saloon, landing on my horse and riding off just never gets old" Probably my memory playing tricks on me again, but I could have sworn I've heard that somewhere before.
  7. Along with Huguenot's points above, in the last 5 pages of the property section, which takes you back to March, there are just 3 properties for sale. Is another section really called for?
  8. Absolutely fine, unless you're planning on wearing your new hoodie on a snowboarding/skateboarding trip with your hood covering your shaggy Shaun White hairdo. Just make sure you're wearing a belt and your jeans are covering your arse.

Sorry, probably wrong thread MM, but Jedward were performing as I posted.
  10. Ireland Moldova Georgia
  11. Outside the Mind shop on the corner of Tintagel Cres and Grove Vale or Sainsbury's car park (I think).

    Cry babies

How many proud Irishmen have got a tear in their eye right now I wonder.
  13. Talking of Kent, Kings Hill, just outside West Malling would come into your price range.

In fact thinking about it, doesn't Jenny Agutter live in Camberwell, is that where Sean and Keef went? Perhaps you should try north MP.

Well done on the 10000 posts MP. These days though doesn't that evoke some kind of Logan's Run type scenario? You make a run for sanctuary, or Nunhead, whichever comes first, while Sandperson tries to chase you down.
  16. Does this kind of Rocker count?
  17. To be honest, I'm not sure I would trust a gibbet built by you Huncamunca and you would certainly end up with the most frightful blisters.
  18. This is the argument I don't really understand. Whilst I believe the majority of MP's are conscientious professionals there is undoubtedly a minority who are lazy, incompetent, dishonest, complacent or any combination of the above. They win re-election because they are fortunate enough to sit in constituencies where just enough core party support can be relied on to keep them there. AV just makes it easier to overcome party loyalty and hold these people to account. It is not, of course, a silver bullet, it won't work in every situation, but to my mind some is better than none. Marmora Man, I am puzzled therefore, as to why you should call on one thread, for easier ways of cutting the dead wood out of the NHS and yet support a system which helps protect it in the House of Commons.
  19. ???? route is fine if you're travelling when the traffic is light but Marmora Man's is more reliable. The A40 flyover is also currently down to a 30mph speed limit apparently with cameras.
  20. Silverfox try reading this post on Andrew Hickey's blog, particularly the example he gives.
  21. Surely if the there is a greater prospect of a coalition parties will need to reign in their more unlikely pre-election promises or suffer the fate of the Lib Dems over tuition fees (which will be lessoned learned for them). Certainly post election extreme policies which may bankrupt the country will be less, not more likely in a more balanced government.
  22. Local radio in London is not up to much compared to its regional brethren. This afternoon I had the pleasure of Radio Wiltshire for about 20 mins on the M4. It went as follows: Billy Ocean - When the going gets tough An interview with a man who had written a puzzle book The travel news - there wasn't any apparently Enrique Iglesias The Cake of the Week slot Whitney Houston - I will always love you. (Described by the DJ as "having a lot of notes in it.") I mean how can Danny Baker and co expect to compete with that kind of broadcasting gold?
  23. Just for the sake of clarity, I don't jump red lights on a bike partly because that's illegal and I'm not advocating breaking the law by me or anyone else and partly because I don't own a bike. Should the law ever change it should be as a result of proper study, not my opinion. Unfortunately my word is not law...yet.
  24. No northlondoner I didn't say they should ignore red lights, if there's traffic crossing, pedestrian or motorised, they should stop. That's what Give Way means.
  25. Has this ever been studied? I've always thought the best option for cyclists is to treat red lights the same way the emergency services do ie as giveway rather than stop signals.
