I don't know if it is to be encouraged because He is one of my pet hates in the world, but you could just Google a free audio recorder. The software will record any thing going through your sound card. A bit long winded as you can only record in real time, but should work.

The VLC player would most likely have solved the problem had it been a codec issue. Dvd player and graphics card driver updates, via the Medion support website, are the only other thing I would suggest, which might help.

Waitrose or M&S TYPE supermarket - do we want one on LL?
nashoi replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No for all the reasons stated above. Richmond is a great example of an area that you would think could support indie food shops, but the nearest butchers is 1.5 miles from the centre and is pretty poor when you get there. There is however a Waitrose that they can all go to in their 4x4s. -
Try using this VLC Media Player

There is an argument that reductionism has its limits and atheists could use the g-word without leaving science behind. It maybe necessary or at least advisable, given the potential advantage finding a common language may give. Personally (I have to admit I'm about as far from being a scientist as its possible to get) it seems too much like the kind of anthropomorphism MP was discouraging a page or two back. Stuart Kauffman, biologist and atheist, puts the case here: 1-5 2-5 3-5 4-5 5-5

I think your timing might be a bit off here. -
car stolen in front of my house before my very eyes...

Otto Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Thief caught! That's good news. With any luck he might be the sod that smashed my passenger window, on Melbourne Grove, earlier in the year. -
As a general rule of thumb, street numbers radiate away from the centre of a town. So in this case if the OP had known the address (which presumably they didn't) you would know it was the Goose Green end.

As a result of a post by jctg in the main section, I just typed 'What are you?' into Google. One of the first answers listed was The Superhero Quiz Apparently I'm most like Spiderman, which is good, but a bit like ..ahem Catwoman, which is less good. I was wondering which other Superheroes were hiding out on the EDF?

Things that you're not looking forward to hearing over Christmas

24) Nobody else could make it this year, so it's just you and me. Oh and the telly's on the blink so it's just that ticking clock for entertainment. -
Jesus just come in from the pub and thought people were putting severed hands through letter boxes now. Then I remembered I had electrified all my household surfaces and these petrified bastards were up there as a result and a warning to others. A more cost effective alternative to electrifying your entire house is to install a guillotine above the letterbox. I believe in the ancient code used by tramps and vagabonds, the presence of a severed limb nailed to the gate post indicated that the occupant was a badass mutherfucker not to be messed with.

I've always had a bit of a thing for John Carpenter's The Thing.

This was broadcast this afternoon. An entertaining debate which Hitchens wins to my mind, though if I'm being honest I could probably have said that before I heard it. It does remind you just how much like a vicar Blair can sound though. Blair v Hitchens: Is religion a force for good in the world?

It's a road movie set 6 years after alien life has been discovered and brought back to earth, hence the sci-fi bit. The alien life just provides the backdrop to the movie, it's not Independence Day or War of the Worlds. As to what a road movie is you'll find a comprehensive definition here.

I've just got back from watching Monsters at the Ritzy. The British film maker Gareth Edwards directed, wrote, edited and created all the special effects with a budget of just $150,000 and just two professional actors (everyone else being locals). The result is a beautifully shot, engaging, arty, sci-fi road movie, if that doesn't sound too confused. Well worth the trip, if only to see what can be achieved with a small budget and a big imagination.

Yep those must be the best views of London Chick. Here's one quite popular with students of late.

An often quoted problem and no doubt there is a fair degree of truth in it. One partial solution though would be a Passport Tax, imposed on UK citizens living abroad, but who wish to retain their citizenship. Plenty of caveats of course, which is why it could only be a partial solution. To start with, the EU would have to be out of bounds and it would only apply to those earning above the higher rate tax threshold in the UK. The rate charged would have to be debated, but I reckon about 98% would be fair, what about you Huguenot?

I've stayed at both these barns this year and can happily recommend them. Trevase Cottages It is quite short notice though, so if you don't get in anywhere, how about the great outdoors? This place allows cooking fires in private woodland clearings, so you could try your own hog roast and if it all goes wrong or starts raining, Brighton is 20 min away in a cab. It isn't likely that Wikileaks has released anything not already widely known throughout the diplomatic world and I think the US government is more concerned by this as a precedent. Assange has just given everyone a titillating glimpse behind the staffroom door. Though I agree governments are excessively concerned with secrecy, often to their own detriment, the idea espoused by people on here that everything could and should be made open is just childish nonsense. Even this forum relies to a fair degree on a PM function to keep things running smoothly. If we can't discuss missing cats and the best curries without a degree of confidentially creeping in, do you really expect diplomats to operate without it?

Woman asking for sponsorship - scam?

Despite what some people may wish to believe, most petty criminals are as thick as two short planks and or slightly disturbed. How many people knock door to door at any time of day looking for potential investors? -
I agree with pretty much all of that post HAL9000, Voyager was definitely my favourite. Also I think Star Trek was at its best when the Enterprise was captained by a bit of a prat. OK so Patrick Stewart maybe a fine shakespearean actor, but listening to him in interviews is just painful, their two successors were just too bland for Star Trek. Though I don't read much SciFi these days, when I did, I found the near future novels more interesting. Greg Bear's Eon comes to mind as a great book. A recommendation, particularly aimed at Mockney Piers though, is for Vernor Vinge's Rainbows End. An excellent look at the near future when his dreams of technological synesthesia have been realised with the help of augmented reality lenses and portable computing.
