  1. When he bites you, have you presented the boob to him at a habitual time when he usually has a feed, or when he has asked for it? It might be that he just isn't that hungry at that point, and so is biting because he isn't really interested in the milk and so is kind of playing with it. Might be worth trying not offering you boob to him at times other than when he is asking? Just an idea that might be worth a go. Good luck, there is nothing worse than a bitten boob - keep an eye on it for mastitis xxxx
  2. thanks for everyone's contributions! Having given it some thought I agree with redjam - the point is probably less what actual term you use, and more the way in which you use it to create open and free communication that makes the difference. So i am just going to go with the name that I use confidently for myself, and see how we go. :)
  3. Hi everyone,

I have been reading this really enlightening book, and had to share it. I would say it is the most beneficial thing I have read since having my daughter, and is helping me to find balance in many ways! Enjoy:

  4. Hi everyone - I just received an email through the Weston Price Foundation from a member who lives in Southgate who's wife has terrible mastitis, and they hoping that someone might be able to donate breast milk to them directly for their 3 week old baby. I thought that I would post on here in case anyone had frozen expressed milk that they don't need? As I have had my own run-ins with mastitis this year I am wary of messing with my own supply by expressing, but thought I would share the details in case anyone else was in a position to donate. It is only short term as the mum will resume BF once the mastitis has cleared - she is feeding now but her supply is down. If you want more info please let me know. S
  5. I have had mastitis 3 times this year. It is awful Anna - so sorry for you. I found paracetamol really helped with the flu type symptoms. also, I took a hot shower every morning and every night, putting the shower head on the affected boob.Afterwards, do a feed, or express until all the milk has gone. Then, massaging the area through the day, and making sure the boob is empty after a feed. The first two times I had antibiotics, took a week to fully go though. Third time I avoided the antibiotics, caught it early i think and used the method above. Good luck. Oh, and the most important thing, which as a mum I know is pretty much impossible, is to rest as much as you can. Take any help you can get, because rest and naps will honestly make a huge difference. xxx
  6. Just wanted to put a note to say how horrified I am by what has happened in Norway. I spent 3 years as girlfriend to a Norwegian, and lived in Oslo for a while and attended the University of Oslo, and can say that Norway is the most beautiful, peaceful and safe feeling place. It is such a terrible thing to have happened, and to children, I can't believe it. My thoughts go out to everyone affected. S x
