  1. MW74 - isnt the music shop near the station any good? And I think there is one one on Landalls Road... Great position for a tea shop, meat, fish, tea and cake all within easy reach, fantastic!
  2. I too am a big fan of A J Farmer. The young guy that serves in there has often made me laugh with his dead-pan style humour. Give me that over traipsing around the aisles of Sainsbury any day...
  3. I was in the Dog during the time that Love Actually was being filmed, and Liam Neeson was stood at the bar next to me for most of the evening. Sad thing was that despite my friends recognising who it was, I was completley unaware he was there, I just knew there was a very tall chap standing to my left. This may have made Mr Neeson feel quite relaxed, as apparently he removed his baseball cap and sat on a bar stool listening to our chatter for a good while. Felt gutted the next morning when my friends mentioned it. Damn.
  4. I am with Brendan - I hate the layout, constantly been bumped into by punters wanting nothing more than to get a drink. Terrible place, almost on a par with the Vale IMO.
  5. I was talking to my friend the other day about this, he DJ's in Liqourice once a month, and for the first time last weekend he was playing records to an empty room because all the smokers were sat outside with very little interest in what was going on inside... I am very happy to be able to have a drink in a smoke free environment, but I would also like a few drinkers around to swap a few tales with.
  6. Thanks Jah, another urban myth put to rest, cheers!
  7. Not sure if this is true or not, but I heard that there is a train stuck in the tunnel.. Apparently, a local man invented a tube train powered by some sort of vacuum. The train was tested under the wood and got stuck...
  8. Hi Frisco, I think I picked up a card from Le Chardon which had details of the Green on the reverse, so presumably they are connected. We love Le Chardon, but would not choose to have dinner in the Green. Having said that, I do rate their hearty English breakfast's, one of the best around IMO.
  9. What a childish statement. All estate agents should be considered 'scum' seemingly because they profit from buying and selling houses. By that rationale, anyone who has ever profited from buying or selling a product should perhaps be considered scum as well. Estate agents are not the only people that make money by bringing a buyer and seller together... Ridiculous. Some salespeople do this well and others do it badly, regardless of the product they are selling.
  10. Morning all, I wondered if anyone else had been woken during the past two nights this week by the incessant wailing of a car alarm? This lovely high pitched screech seems to be a constant backdrop during the time when I am just in from work and trying to relax, and then helpfully again at 4.30am for a good hour or so to remind me that I have to get up in a few hours time.... Does anyone know how many disturbed nights I have to endure before the Council will come round with their microphones and noise polution fines? Can these be given out to cars with faulty alarms?
  11. Hi there, I was involved in collating the initial responses for purchasing the freehold. My impression was that we may be shy of the 51% of interested parties that would be needed to go ahead. I understand however, that someone in Altima is trying to negotiate the price of the freehold with Laing Homes, as perhaps that a smaller group of flats may be able to go ahead provided that the majority of Altima residents agree. I believe a further email or mailshot will be going out shortly, although time is running out...
