    MPs' expenses

When someone reassures me that we live in a democracy I remind them that, at the last election, our Government managed to acquire 55% of the seats in Parliament having polled 35% of the vote, and the party that finished third got 10% of the seats on 22% of the vote.
  2. OMG you outed me. So there it is... yes i have been into astrology for some time. Clearly then, there is enough in it to occupy this Gemini's mind for that length of time.....cos we are a fickle lot, not given to persistence and carrying things through.
  3. Ohhhh yes......Louisa clearly you have nicked my hymn sheet!
  4. Time for the newby to resurrect this thread I think. Sounds like fun.
  5. 1986. The Milk Cup. They also topped the old First Division from the beginning of the 87-88 season until Xmas, and finished as top London club the following May. Paul Parker, David Seaman and Les Ferdinand in the team I think. I also remember a live tv league game, Man Utd v QPR live from Old Trafford. listening to the pre-match commentary about how the R's would be luck to take anything away from the game and would be looking to put in a good performance and not worry about the result.......they were 2-0 up inside ten minutes and won 4-1!!!! EDIT: A little Googling reveals the date to be New Years Day 1992, and that nobody has scored 4 at Old Trafford since!

If we post on here every time someone gets in > the way or irritates us there'll be no time to > enjoy life. What if your enjoyment of life comes from moaning about ar$eh0!e cyclists on internet forums (no Barty, don't, step AWAYYY from the keyboard!)
  7. It's the lack of accountability that winds me up the most. If a plod sees a motorist go through a red light, straight away there is the number plate to identify. No such registration mark for cyclists. If a motorist ploughs into the side of my car, we are both legally obliged to exchange insurance details. If a cyclist runs into and dents my car, he will most likely have no insurance and I'll end up paying for the repair myself.
  8. My hatred of cyclists who ignore the Highway Code or presume it was written only for motorists and not for them is well documented on a forum for an area not so very far away!
  9. Check out the years, people! Tony says Hull will go close to a Premiership return in 2010/11 season....we just finished 08/09 and about to start 09/10.....so Tony sees Hull relegated from the Prem in the coming season. FWIW Barty agrees with him.....now get out of this Championship thread :))
  10. Ah yes, but at least I didn't defect to the big four when the Rs sank to the depths of League one.
  11. That's not how it works though is it.... You get charged for being naughty, but never a discount for being good. You won't get a discount, your neighbour will get an extra charge innit
  12. The game's up. What can I say, I was born in Acton!
  13. Barty is indeed an R's fan, sorry MM! Lucky guess was it ???? Or prior knowledge from somewhere?! Not sure about our new manager.....Ipswich sacked Magilton cos he couldn't get them into the Championship play-offs.....so he goes to......Queens Park Rangers who are supposed to be aiming for the Premiership this season. Briatore's next poodle. I'll give him till Xmas if he's lucky. Then Ainsworth back as caretaker.

  16. He'll want to beat the Sampras record before he calls it a day, I reckon. Tsonga is my outsider, but I'd go for a Federer v Murray final. What about the ladies? Williams or Williams? Has world no.1 Safina ever won anything on grass? Sharapova? Wozniacki?
  17. Yeah, there are a few aren't there....Leeds, Leicester, Charlton.... Relegation might be the kick up the arse that Newcastle need in order for them to pull themselves together and go back up. But I'm inclined to agree with you, it might take another season or two, or maybe even another relegation, before reality dawns. QPR will never succeed until Briatore stops meddling in team selection. If he wises up, he'll attract a decent manager down there who will sort it out. Some big names are out of work right now.....Sven maybe?
  18. wait until someone starts a thread about Southern or cyclists!!!!
  19. I couldn't resist a peek....and having peeked, I couldn't resist registering either :))
  20. Hello bigbadwolf, don't i know you from somewhere ahaha
  21. Rather than wading through pages and pages of Premiership waffle about teams I care little for, let's see what happens if I start another thread just for Championship football. I'm not gonna reveal who I support yet, suffice to say they are in the Championship...... Who's gonna dominate the Championship in the coming season? Newcastle straight back up? Moneybags QPR who can't hold onto a manager? Unlucky Reading? The Welsh contingent, Cardiff and Swansea???
  22. As long as Federer is playing, you have to consider him on Wimbledon's grass. And it's true that his life is gonna be easier with Nadal's withdrawal. But Murray's beaten him. He's clearly closer to the end of his career than he is from the beginning of it. Roger certainly isn't the automatic choice he has been in the past. I think Murray can do it.
  23. Any tennis fans out there? What are your thoughts?
