  1. Ok I'm totally sooo rubbish, I have missed how many meet-ups? I would love to join you all for the next one, before everyone starts having their babies! Congratulations to Ellie and family, hope the twins are doing well. Looking forward to meeting you all, unfortunately can't make tomorrow but will hopefully catch some of you at the next. Hope everyone is keeping well and enjoying the cooler weather. Sophie + 1DS + 29 week bump. X
  2. Hi all, ok if I gatecrash? I'm due with our 2nd on 12th November, and like you Shen, it feels like a first time all over again. I can't believe how much things have changed! My DS will be 5 1/2 when this little one arrives and has been extremely laid back about the whole situation. I really dont think he knows what's in store! I am with Oakwood and am toying with the idea of a home water-birth (had DS at Kings, not the best experience but totally not through any fault of theirs). Any advice/opinions/tips gratefully received. Hope you are all absolutely blooming and cherishing this wonderful time :)
  3. My son was in this position until 39 weeks. I spent evenings sitting on a birthing ball playing scrabble and this is what I believe turned him! Its to do with the position of your knees being slightly higher than your pelvis enabling baby more room to move around and get into the correct position. Hope this helps and good luck!
  4. Just what I was looking for! I'm still in two minds. In other words bump. Anyone?
  5. my little boy is 2.5 and has been completely dry overnight for around 3 weeks now. i put him in pants overnight around 2.5 months ago and dropped his fluids after 6 and it was pretty 50:50 wet and dry for a while. i didnt want to go down the route of going back to nappies again, and pull-ups are designed to hold moisture away from the body so i dont really see the logic (what works for one doesnt always work for another!). after plenty of trial and error iv realised that he was only wetting on the nights that i lifted him at around ten/half past. since not getting him up for a night time wee wee at all, he has been dry. im not sure whether its maybe something to do with his sleep pattern being disturbed or something else, or maybe just pure coincidence, but its been working sofar!!
  6. they actualy do yoga for little ones?! my 2yo is mad about it too, will def check the classes out. might help him to relaaaaaaaax..... :)
  7. I am a Dulwich girl now living in Catford and have just put my 2 yr old sons name down for Lillingtons Montessori in Ladywell, to start next September. Does anyone have any views on the whole State Nursery vs Montessori matter? Of course I want whats best for my son and have had the "M" word pushed my way on a few occasions so assumed it's they way to go. I have visited the nursery a few times now and am extremely happy with the staff, area etc. Any thoughts/experience would be gratefully received!
  8. my 2 1/2 yo is exactly the same with cheese, my mum said he will eat it til it comes out of his eyes and ears (not so funny when he got hit by conjunctivitis!). his other nan believes that sometimes children attach themselves to one certain food group (i.e dairy, protien etc.) because their body is lacking in a certain something froms these foods. apparantly its their bodies way of telling them they need more fat/iron/carbs etc, etc. i'm not sure how true this is as she does have some strange theories at times. as long as her weight is ok then i guess its ok to let her continue, as i have with my son. i'm sure they will soon move onto the ketchup addiction.
  9. Thank you for an insight, it's so difficult to know how to tackle situations like this especially as it's just me on my own, me and my son have to work together but it doesn't always work out! I will see how he goes as it is pretty 50/50 with us too. I sometimes wonder if it maybe a little anxiety, what with me trying to keep him in a great routine (which he has always thrived on) which does go a little up in the air what with going to his dads every now and again etc etc it could be any number of things. He is starting pre-school tomorrow so time will tell, he is bound to be a little unsettled for a while. We will just have to see how it goes. Many thanks for the advice.
  10. I have recently tackled this with my son who is nearly 2 1/2 and hate to say it was kind of a breeze. we are on the night-times now and have an equal amount of dry and wet nights. he also had an aversion to doing his poo poos on the potty at the start and used to wait until his nappy was on after his bath. then i started showing him what he had done (as gross as it is he needed to know) and let him know when I was going, too. he was totally fascinated and couldn't wait to make those splashing noises in the big boy toilet. we also skipped the pull-ups and went straight into pants as the pull-ups are designed to keep them dry, which kind of defeats the object. it sounds awful but after a few minutes in a pair of damp pants they get a little tetchy. im sure its not classed as child abuse (?), its just showing them that its not a very nice feeling. we are now totally established during the day and don't dread long car journeys or visits to the shops or friends. the more they do it, the closer they are to being aware when they need to go and telling you about it in the middle of tescos in the loudest voice they can, then they gain more control over their bladder and manage to hold too. i really feel its important to wait until your child is ready, the more it is put on them the more reluctant they will be, go at their pace. im not sure about other mums but i was a little worried about the mixing pants and nappies, and sometimes feel i want to put a nappy back on of a night-time to avoid going through so many sheets. but he has proved that he can do it, we have had loads of dry nights but just as many wet. would it confuse him to return to nappies until IM more confident? bearing in mind it was his decision to wear "big-boy pants" in bed.
  11. Hi FIONA A, im curious about the dissappearance of these Thursday morning classes? I had my 2YO son in the 10 o'clock Thurs morning class for nearly a yr and received a call from Carole-Ann, the lovely receptionist, a few weeks ago giving me a refund on the rest of my sons course. They were "closing down for a refurb and will be in touch as soon as we can return". Can anyone enlighten me as he really enjoyed it?! Many thanks.
  12. Hi guys I'm loving this thread. Thought I'd share one of my fail-safes with you all. Its made the same way as a stew but is pasta based. I measure by eye I'm afraid! Orzo (rice shaped pasta, but also works great with fusillini) Garlic clove, crushed or finely chopped Dried rosemary Diced onion Lamb Couple lamb stock cubes Tin chopped toms Fry garlic, onion and rosemary in a splash of olive oil until onion is soft. Add lamb. Crumble over stock cubes and fry until meat is gently browned. Add chopped tomatoes then add boiling water to just cover. Cook on low for a good couple of hours. Around 20 minutes before serving, add the pasta (this is when it turns into a hearty meal!). Water may need topping up if it starts to reduce. Vary the amount of liquid added to serve as either a "soup" or thicker as I prefer. My two year old loves this, and its great that it's all done on the hob in one big pan.
  13. Great recipes guys, I start to wrack my brains as soon as I wake up! My son who's 2 has a great appetite and eats everything apart from a sandwich (?!) so I keep trying new things to vary his diet even more but I'm running out of ideas! The problem I come across is his dad still expecting me to send a lunchbox up with him on a weekend. My freezer is chocca block full of homemade lasangnes, shepherds pies, pasta bakes and casseroles etc but feel like he doesn't have as much variety that way. I always end up bulk making and freezing the same things as I'm unsure about what can actually be safely frozen. Help!
