Best pub to smoke [outside] at?

So which pub has the best outside smoking facilities - have any of them actually built anything decent outside?

Don't want to get into the arguments about whether one should or not.

The Castle has a pretty darn nice outside area created on the back of the legislation - nicer than the inside some would say

I think the Plough actually wins this particular event. We went for a few pints of brown

last night and it has an outside area which is both undercover and heated - thumbs up.

Ah - heat the outdoors there's a good idea. I know you smokers appreciate comfort (its the only pleasure I have left etc) and, what wit the price of fags these days, are short of cash - but haven't you heard of coats ...

Yeah, smokers should be made to smoke outside in the nude, maybe they should be tarred and feathered at the same time. That'll learn em for doing something that you don't like.

I feel much less anti-smoker now they're not causing me to breathe their smoke. I just think that the use of outdoor heaters is a shocking waste of energy and wonder why its required ...

It is required so that the smokers still have some dignity, and can at least feel like they have not been completely ousted by society by being able to have a civilised drink and a burner without having to shuffle about in freezing cold car parks in the rain.

I was with Dulwich dad last night and the plough was excellent. Good interior, nice outside sitting room for the smokers, good ambiance and a door man keeping the riff-raff out (a drunk scotsman trying to start a fight with his own reflection).

Off thread i know - but we did have to wait for 20mins for a pint. teeting problems i'm sure.

I would have thought that the problems with outside heaters is that we are facing catastrophic climate change already, and should be reducing our energy consumption, so it seems a bit nihilistic to install outside heating in all the pubs across the country to stop smokers getting cold!

I heard one of the best things that a landlord has done up in Scotland/Ireland is to have a large collection of ski jackets for people to wear outside, though why they wouldnt take their own coats is beyond me. Frankly if I want to go outside I don't necessarily want to wear a coat and I will certainly be purchasing a heater for my own garden.

I agree with Tom, this pub has real potential for BOTH smokers and non smokers, lots of room, fantastic outdoor area and the pipes were clean (don't know about you Tom but no gut problems today)

We've yet to sample the food, so the jury remains out on that issue

They should definately apply for a late license though, as we were asked to leave at 1 minute past 11
