Caravan

This is not funny. Notice that owners of large vehicles rarely park outside their own homes because it leaves YOUR house with the caravan or whatever outside of it, more vulnerable to being burgled. Owners of large vehicles should park outside their own homes or outside houses with massive hedges- it's only good manners which seem to be severely lacking these days

Simple thing to check is does it have a number plate on it ? If so can you see the matching plate on a car nearby, chances are that the owner couldn't get the car and caravan parked together and had to temporarily park them separately. Maybe a note on the cars windscreen asking the owner to reposition it outside their property would be a start. Also how long has it been there ? If only overnight then maybe they are off soon for a holiday , if longer then again try and locate the owners and ask them politely to move it

Always nicer to talk with the owner first before trying to get enforcement action as often the owner will be sympathetic to the issue and try and do something to resolve it. As uncleglen pointed out the police won't always enforce against it and I am not sure what southwarks policy is but again they may not have powers so speaking to the owner or leaving a polite note may be your best first course of action.

Parking caravans on the street can cause a number of problems, for example they may:

block the street illegally

be a safety hazard to pedestrians and particularly children

prevent or limit access for other vehicles

block windows and shut out daylight

be an eyesore

be dangerous, for example if they are unstable or have gas cylinders attached

The caravan MUST be lit at night if it is parked on a road and comply with the other normal parking rules (the nearside must face the pavement so the rear lights are at the rear for approaching traffic).
