Acrickmore
Hi,I'm wanting to hire an area, ideally in a garden, for my husbands 40th birthday for a Saturday afternoon. It needs to be a family friendly pub, ideally in the east Dulwich, Peckham, nunhead, forest hill area. Can recommendations appreciated! Even if it hadn't got a garden but I'd appreciate some tips! Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/101935-40th-birthday-pub-recommendations/ Share on other sites
Itzel
The Watson General Telegraph, has an insane garden with fire pits and comfy seating......loads of lovely beers and the food the looked good....when I stopped by a few weeks back. Failing that, hiring out the front bit of the Great Exhibition, with tables......... Roberta5146
The East Dulwich Tavern on Lordship Lane has an upstairs room which is available for private hire - it has it's own bar, kitchen and sound system. It's also got it's own entrance so perfect for parties! The Rye on Rye Lane (Peckham Rye end) has a lovely garden area, so worth asking there about hosting your party there.Railway Telegraph in Forest Hill also has lovely outdoor garden.Hope you find something :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/101935-40th-birthday-pub-recommendations/#findComment-985386 Share on other sites
rendelharris
The Cherry Tree on Grove Lane has the best pub garden in the area in my opinion - don't know what they're like for parties but sure you could easily book out the dining section, which is quite nicely separate from the rest of the pub. I see they do a free bottle of prosecco for birthday parties of over five as well. Definitely family friendly. No connection with TCT, just really like it!Cheers,Rendel Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/101935-40th-birthday-pub-recommendations/#findComment-985398 Share on other sites
Sue
The Ivy House (Stuart Road, Nunhead), London's first community owned pub, is very family friendly and positively welcomes children. The staff are lovely. It only has quite a small garden, but that has been massively improved of late and is now even lovelier :)It's just a minute's walk from the Rye with the kids' playground and lots of grass to run around on, too.http://www.ivyhousenunhead.com/about.phpTo find out about booking, contact Harry, the Events Manager, on 020 7277 8233.Hope you find a great venue whatever you decide!PS I have to declare an interest as I have community shares in the pub, but I would still recommend it even if I hadn't :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/101935-40th-birthday-pub-recommendations/#findComment-985415 Share on other sites
randombloke
The Crooked Well Camberwell. Not got a garden as far as I know, but they do have an upstairs room you can hire. We had our wedding reception there in January and the food, drink and service was exemplary. We had a starter of mixed meats, smoked salmon and mezze, superb Beef Wellington main and Chocolate and Marshmallows to follow. They let us taste various wines and Champagnes prior to the day to get a good match and couldn't have been more accommodating. Highly recommended. johnie
Also the Herne on Forest Hill Rd has a barn in their large garden for hire (it was free at one time, not sure now). They are less child friendly of late however.
