Abruzzo

The Abruzzo region of Italy is one of the least visited by British tourists. I'm going there in May. Staying in Bisenti. Anyone have any experience or advice on what to do? There is only one English language guide book.

Sorry I can't help as I've never been but try visiting the vineyards. I'm rather fond of the rustic D'abuzzo grape.

I know the Abruzzo but only near the Pescara region. Where are you flying to?

Jah,

The red grape used in Abruzzo is Montepulciano (as in Montepulciano d'Abruzzo). Not to be confused with the Montepulciano region (the one you mainly see in shops), which it mainly the Sangiovese grape.

There's also the Trebbiano d'Abruzzo if you like whites.

Pecorino is another white grape of the area worth sampling but doesn't get exported so much. Green and Blue are doing some nice wines from the Chieti area.
