Scanner (for negatives) wanted

The time has come for me to scan in lots of my old 35mm negatives and so I'm looking to borrow (or maybe buy) a scanner from someone. I now have a couple of days free to get on with scanning this weekend and I was looking at buying an Epson V300 but nowhere locally stocks them.

Any help greatly appreciated
