There are weekly free 5ks in loads of local parks - Dulwich, Peckham Rye, Brockwell, Hilly Fields. Have a look at http://www.parkrun.org.uk/

The runs are super friendly - all organised by volunteers and very much focused on being welcoming, inclusive and fun and totally FREE. You just register once, print out a barcode and come along to the event of your choice at 9am Saturday.

Not so sure about regular 10ks. There is the Chase the Sun series by RunThrough.

The other good place to look is the Runners World event finder.

    • Smallish job, would suit a sole trader rather than a Lordship Lane Carpets type company...
    • Sorry this just didn’t seem to belong to request a tradesperson. any good experiences? Not a chiropodist!
    • Crofton Park (borough of Lewisham) has a community notice board which as well as listing councillors is full of notices about local community activities of all sorts and for all ages. It is clean and tidy and only has one small fly poster (attached with one very small piece of tape, and easily removed - I didn't though). Crofton Park also has a lovely little community garden alongside the station, full of flowers, with lots of things of interest to kids,  and also obviously lovingly maintained. I don't know who the land belongs to - possibly the station, though access is via the adjoining road. If Lewisham council/Crofton Park residents can maintain a community notice board, why can't Southwark Council/East Dulwich residents?
