  1. I heartily recommend Christian at NetQuest on Pellatt Rd who recently saved my bacon when my PC developed a catastrophic hardware fault. The PC itself was still under warranty, but I knew Dell would not rescue any of the files stored on it. Even though the hard drive was horribly corrupted, Christian refused to give up and managed to salvage the files I had failed to back up. Netquest: http://netquest-consulting.com/
  2. Organic Village (what used to be Andreas - two doors down from Chener books) usually have them. Also SMBS on Lordship Lane. And I'd be amazed if Franklin's farm shop aren't stocking them.
  3. Good luck finding a run buddy - my own run schedule is too unpredictable to be any help, but I did want to say come along to one of the parkruns if you can on a Saturday. Lovely welcoming atmosphere and guaranteed people to run with. I'll be marshaling at Peckham on Saturday but there's also Dulwich Park, Brockwell Park, Hilly Fields and any number of others. Also if you want company in the evening Dulwich Park Runners is super friendly and meets on a Tuesday and Thursday with runnners of all abilities.
  4. I used one when we house-swapped in France. I love cooking but I really don't get the hype. It was initially quite exciting to have a gadget that weighed and cooked things all in one, and it was definitely a fun toy to tinker with. But I can't really see how it would be a time-saver. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but my most efficient cooking comes about when I plan, cook in massive bulk and swap mid-week emergency supper ideas with friends.
  5. Hi Jules - I'm the lady you were chatting to in the glass box while this was happening. I'm so sorry this happened. Sadly I didn't see anything or anyone (one of the staff approached me afterwards to ask me). Unbeknownst to me my daughter and friend had left their stuff unlocked in the lockers in the ladies changing room (including some valuables) and none of that stuff was touched. So it seems pretty clear whoever it was didn't go into the women's changing rooms. Do let me know if I can help in any way.
  6. The relays sound huge fun. Must put that in the diary this year. Even if a mile hard is even more painful than a 5k (which is already painful enough!!).
  7. Their autumn 10k has bitten the dust I fear. A couple of years ago I spoke to the lovely guy who helped organise it and he said one of the issues was it was just getting too busy and congested on the pavements used for the route through Dulwich village to have lots of runners going through at top speed. The race fell off the calendar the year when Dulwich Park was being dug up for flood work and hasn't reappeared. The Dulwich Runners midsummer 5k seemed to morph into a relay event last summer (2016). Maybe they feel the 5k market is more than being met with the numerous local parkruns? The race director at Peckham parkrun is a Dulwich Runner so he could no doubt tell you more if you come along one Saturday.
  8. There are weekly free 5ks in loads of local parks - Dulwich, Peckham Rye, Brockwell, Hilly Fields. Have a look at http://www.parkrun.org.uk/ The runs are super friendly - all organised by volunteers and very much focused on being welcoming, inclusive and fun and totally FREE. You just register once, print out a barcode and come along to the event of your choice at 9am Saturday. Not so sure about regular 10ks. There is the Chase the Sun series by RunThrough. The other good place to look is the Runners World event finder.
  9. There's also now a kids parkrun over in Hilly Fields if ever the Brockwell one is not on (rare). Also starts at 9.30am (again always worth double checking the website in case).
  10. Fabulous news. Love your bread and will definitely popping in to acquire some at the new premises.
  11. A bit thumbs up from us for Steve too. He arrived exactly on time, fixed our oven quickly and for a reasonable price.
  12. This property was on the market until very recently. Whilst it was for sale my husband reported the broken gate / fence a couple of times to the estate agent. On each occasion it was fixed pretty promptly, but unfortunately it was then broken down again. Presumably the broken gate is now the responsibility of whoever has bought the property.
  13. That's such a good idea - why did I never think of doing that all those years I pedalled that way! Then you're straight into the park. Would have been a bit of a detour for me, but much more pleasant.
  14. Another vote for this route - I did this as part of my commute to work (including going a bit further to Clapham Junction). The bit to Brockwell Park is the least cycle friendly (but totally manageable - just a bit chaotic at the big junction at Herne Hill). The rest is all quiet back roads. A lovely ride.
  15. I asked one of the guys working there over a week ago when it would be finished and was also told "8 weeks" so either the schedule has slipped already or 8 weeks is the total expected build time ...
  16. On our 2 minute walk to school near Goose Green it's not at all uncommon to have to circle carefully around 5 separate dog pooh deposits. It's utterly grim. And with 2 kids and a pushchair the odds are high of a foot or wheel ending up in the stuff. My 5 year old and 7 year old are now experts at spotting the stuff and calling out warnings, but it shouldn't be this way. Will contact the council now as several parents have been discussing what to do about this.
