Yeah.. absolutely terrible.. and I swear it's getting worse.

Just this last week, for example, I sent four itmes first class on Friday morning, and had phone calls from THREE of the recipients today asking where they were (two of them are only in Brockley!) I complained, to be told that 'if it needs to get there, send it special delivery'.. as if I can afford to send every work item by SD for ?4.30 *just in case* first class fails to get it there..

In any case, I've had two 'attempted' special deliveries at home where no card was left, only for me to finally work out that the stuff had been languishing at the sorting office for a week and a half. ARGGHH!!

Yep - only yesterday I got home to a Recorded Delivery letter that had been sent to me. It was stuffed into my letterbox, obviously "unsigned" for.....

Loads of other stuff has gone missing, arrived weeks late or arrived shredded beyond belief. Attempted deliveries requiring signatures have supposedly been made and a card left, at times when BOTH of us have been at home. Something fishy, here.

Complaints seem to fall on deaf ears.

we keep getting our neighbours' post and they get ours (sometimes the whole lot). Considering reading the number on the bundle and putting it through the correct door is the only requirement of the delivery person, I find it rather frustrating that they seem unable to perform this simple task!

I have also found post lying around on the pavement a few times so have posted it through the correct door myself.

The sorting office are awful - we get loads of post for the previous occupants of our house despite the fact that they paid the PO for forwarding. Once I took 10 items of post back to the PO and told them they were meant to be forwarding it. Sure enough it all came straight back through our door 2 days later!

I subscribe to several magazines and was puzzled as to why Time Out is the only one that always arrives on time. Then realised it's because they employ people to deliver it by hand (fed up with the PO being useless?) The others keep failing to surface, and I have a friend in Marmora Road who has the same problem. Am thinking of getting the local Lib Dems on the case, unless anyone has any other ideas?

The mystery of the missing post (as in my email aabove - three out of four items posted last week didn't turn-up) has been cleared-up. All three items arrived at their destinations in Royal Mail 'body bags' with notes saying 'sincerest apologies'. Some theiving git had opened them all to see if there was anything of value inside. Not very reassuring.

Re post I have lived in ED 22 for 25 years and 28 in Peckham. Before that one of the problems with the post is the increase in population in the area and to save money the post office REDUCED postmen this with the increace in population means the walks as they are called get longer and heavier ( have you seen the 5ft size 10 post woman) resulting in hidden drops these are places chosen by the invdividual post worker to hide sacks of mail to come back to at a later date, these can be anywhere, your front garden, in a bike shed any place they like, once these are discoverd by scum bags they take the bags away and root through them, the post worker can,t report it because it should't be done.

I've been in East Dulwich for two years, In this time I've had:

Post probably stolen (Had money in it, yeah, I know, tell the family that!)

Items marked as 'DO NOT BEND' bent and crammed through the letter box

Parcels left on the front door step in the rain. The paper was soaked through, as was the item of clothing inside. That was my christmas persent from my girly. So that was one surprise spoilt.

But most irritatingly, both at work (Again in East Dulwich) and at home, from time to time, the postman appears to give up trying to find the house numbers and just puts everything through my letterbox. I've taken to writing sarcastic remarks on each one and popping them back in the postbox.

I'm also irritated by the number of red rubber bands, the ones the post office use to hold all of the bundles together, liberally littering the streets along with numerous 'Your parcel could not be posted because...' cards.

Another 'crap post' rant

Our postman has left a few parcels at our house for neighbours, knowing I work from home and so am usually in. Which is fine, of course. Except yesterday, he left a parcel here.. without even knocking to see if the intended recipient was home!

Would anybody else like to have their parcels delivered here? I certainly don't mind trotting up and down the stairs because the Royal Mail can't be arsed to try the right doorbell first.

An exchange of goods and services may be really helpful during these difficult times.    I wonder if it’s something that someone would be willing to set up separately and link to the forum? Or perhaps  an additional aspect of the forum itself if it was easy to include? I don’t have IT knowledge to set this up unfortunate, but I do have skills that I could offer. From past experience, it would probably work best as a direct exchange rather than coupon credit.    I may be flaunting the rules by posting on this twice, admin please feel free to delete one if this is the case.
