EE problems?

I have O2 phone~no problems at all. My wife has EE with continual access difficulties, " No service" , lengthy delays on receiving texts and usually running around the house trying to find a signal. Unfortunately she took up a lengthy contract before the difficulties occurred. We hear that Dulwich has poor signals as the Estate Governors resist mobile masts even disguised as trees. What to do?

My underlying carrier is EE - I don't have such problems locally - when my underlying carrier was Vodafone it was far worse. Because ED is hilly it really does matter where you are in relation to your nearest mast - microwaves are substantially line-of-sight so if you are under the brow of a hill, or have a hill between you and your nearest mast you will have reception issues. I suspect that for you, the nearest O2 mast is better situated than the nearest EE. Others locally may find their situations reversed.

I was with EE for years and had the same problems as your wife, unable to answer calls indoors and having to go out to the street, which wasn't funny on winter evenings. The customer service was also some of the worst I've ever endured. Then I changed to Tesco Mobile, which I believe piggybacks on other networks like O2 and have very few problems. I can even tether my laptop to my mobile indoors (unless it's raining).

EE should be able to show you their network map and any blackspots. If this shows that your wife can't get reasonable access then perhaps that would be grounds to break the contract? For what it's worth, with EE I never got anywhere with their customer services without requesting a PAC code. After that they put you through to an onshore retention team who have authority to be helpful.

    • I thought the most they sell in terms of hot food at londis is like pastries and sausage rolls and for hot drinks its like costa coffee but its always a convenience store. Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion considering that shop has been closed down ever since i moved here
    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
