The missing menu on the website is a real blunder - I was looking forward to this opening but not having as large an entertainment budget as I'd like I'm a bit chary of booking without knowing a rough cost or what I might get to eat. If the nice gent who was on here before is still looking I'd say that's a bit of an essential!

Fair enough so, but I'd still say opening a new restaurant these days with a website which has nothing on it but three lines about the type of restaurant it is, directions and a booking form is a bit of an error.

Must still be in 'soft' opening mode, as Mrs Cat tried to check it out for lunch yesterday and it was closed.

The 'fake' review looks like an attemp to perhaps influence internet searches (seo) not just the EDF, as I've seen the exact same review on the hot dinners website.

A new restaurant opens in your area.. What is the first thing you do ?

Yes.. You have a look at their Website..

Where are they.. ?

What's on offer.. ?

Prices.. ?

When are the open.. ?

No website so you pop down to have a look and find it.. Oh it's Closed..

New businesses need to get a basic website up and running BEFORE they open.

Keep their potential customers informed.

Not having a website gives the impression that they do not intend to be around for long.. Like they are just testing the water. ?

The Spinach 'concept' seems a good one that could do well. Just keep us informed.. I'm sure you will.

Menu online is essential, surely?

Do they have a website? Google only returned a twitter feed and I clicked through on a link from their twitter and my browser wouldn't take me there warning of malware.

Twitter apologies for erratic opening hours, but back to normal hours from tomorrow- which it seems are just breakfast to lunch, with no evening openings.

Ok.. You pay for it.. I'll eat it and report back.

Foxy

Foxy is a pensioner

And as I see with my father in law - as one's capacity to earn more money is gone and your income is no longer increasing (other than perhaps a pension being indexed linked to a low inflation level) it seems that its difficult to understand current pricing, when compared to monthly income.

I fully understand this.

Eh?

Are there no chairs and tables in Spinach then?

    • Half my family are medics, going back generations, and none of them would ever have gone, or would now go, on strike. I know times have changed, but my family knew what they were signing up for, and accepted the detriment to their families and the hours (which, in the junior years, were way longer when they are now)... because it was not only a vocation, but a stable career for life. And they felt a genuine duty of care to their patients, whom they often put before their own children.  I can only conclude that entry-level junior doctors are more entitled these days. Plus, it's insensitive to nurses, who really do deserve a lot more money and recognition.  There are issues other than pay, like the lack of available posts, and having to move around the country, but they can be improved without a strike.  I don't think the right people are being recruited into the profession anymore. We're all on lower wages and paying more tax than we were ten years ago, but many of us just have to suck it up, work our socks off and get on with it.
    • Beglfire I start, I have a lot of respect for Doctors and owe my life to them after various mishaps over the years.  I am however getting a jaded view of them continuing to run the strike ballot next week in the middle of what is turning into a bad winter for the NHS. Of course they may vote to not strike, but personally feel it is irresponsible timing to consider it as hospitals are already struggling.  Today the BMA warned of scaremongering over the current flu outbreak (BBC News - BMA warns of flu 'scaremongering' ahead of doctor strikes - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5y22yzl6y6o) but just seeing how many people I know are going down with it, that feels like poor spin by the BMA. How do others feel ?
