For the first time in ages me and MrsC went out together last night, to a proper house party, and I snaffled a few too many glasses of wine and ended up with a minor hangover. Trouble is, although we did everything right, ie got a babysitter and arranged for a taxi, we obviously forgot to tell the little ones we would be up late. The cherubs proceeded to wake, unreasonably, at 6.15 before rampaging into our room and jumping all over us. It was, for my sins, my turn, so I have spent most of the day squiffy in charge of children.

I'm doing it this morning! I went to Black Cherry and Liquorish last night with my brother and had v. yummy and much to moreish cocktails.

Darling eldest daughter was up at 5.20am and prodded youngest daughter awake - such a cherub!

Luckily their uncle was still here so we took them to two (TWO) parks this morning and he ran around with eldest while I 'supervised' from the bench.

30 mins until our babysitter comes to take her swimming....29....28!

Ouch mysticnutmeg - we can't be perfect Martha Stewart/Mary Poppins/Nigella Lawson figures all the time. Sometimes we need to have adult company (and recreational tipples) to keep our sanity and have some of our own fun. So sometimes (and actually it is pretty rarely 'cos as Nappy Lady cites 'children are the best think twice's on G*d's great earth')we revert to the 'keep them safe, fed, warm and clean' mentality.

At least for a morning while we pull ourselves together.

My apologies if I fell foul of an inside joke and your message was tongue in cheek.

I think this is probably thanks to me disagreeing with you on the primary school places thread misticnutmeg, since you seem to have singled me out. if you read my post i was hungover rather than drunk and quite happy to admit it. I'd be very surprised to see any mums or dads come on here claiming to be perfect. I think it's quite helpful if parents admit their fallibility in fact...

Lucky for me its always my turn in the week so never my turn in the weekend, not that I ever go anywhere but the rare occasions that I do I get to sleep until a cross lady walks in 'seriously mummy, you are not still sleeping', that's usually about 11am and extremely embarrassed to be told off by an 2.5 year old, I usually slowly wake up, apologise and slowly walk to the bathroom with my head down.

    • The Pie House Co-op Deptford Emergency Crisis - Needs YOUR Help. This not-for-profit, worker-run, wheelchair accessible music and arts venue at 213-214 Edward Place SE8 5HD THE CRISIS: From Liv, Grace & Sonia, On Friday 31st October, there was a flash flood in Deptford, and we found ourselves with water pouring in through the lighting fixtures, damaging our electrics and sound system. We have been forced to close for one of the busiest weekends of the year, losing thousands of pounds in income, and are now having to fight our landlords for support with the leak. We are asking all our allies for support as we try and reignite the crowdfunder to reflect the new expensive work that needs to take place, and the gear we need to replace. Thank you in advance for your support so far, and your support going forward. If you have any ideas with getting media attention, or fundraising - please get in touch on [email protected] Even if you like myself have not previously visited this venue, supporting small not for profit venues are vital to the life blood of what 'commmunity' is all about.
