My old mum was a fan of M&S in Bromley.. She did not have a lot of money. Iv'e still got some of the old black canvas M&S bags...

But I simply must pay them a visit with some Iceland bags.. after the initial histeria has died down.

When Tescos used to give points for each bag you brought with you.. They refused points because I had some Sainsburys bags.

The new store might be wake up call for the dreadful Co-Op to make some changes..

it's a picture of the Dulwich Picture Gallery gardens - why they've used that in the photo list I've no idea!

Hi there

I couldn't find any info about bookings at the hotel on that link and I may need to book a few rooms for relatives around the beginning of September. Do you have another link?

Thanks

Yes - the 750k must buy you a bit of Dulwich Picture Gallery. It probably comes out of the 200k above market you are paying for the apartment.

Pehaps you can see the garden with a telescope from the roof.. :)

A casual walk down NCR this afternoon left me with the awful realisation that the once local Iceland landmark had been covered in disgusting scaffolding with huge grey RSJ's jutting out from the roof. What an awful ugly overbuild for a residential neighborhood, soon to possibly be joined by another over development opposite. This is similar to when some once grade two listed buildings in Camberwell were pulled down to build flats. Totally out of character with the neighborhood. Very sad.

Well, the building was no grade II listed gem. It was a rather unattractive mid century development.

Post redevelopment it is one floor taller and has converted the office use above the shop to residential space in addition to adding in the new floors. Adding that floor might arguably be over-development but let's not pretend that the building was something it wasn't.

LM some of the finest architectural treats aren't necessarily grade 2 listed. Much like the old St Mary's Road Church in Nunhead was, or the swimming pool building inside crystal palace park, this particular gem on LL was a landmark many of my generation can remember being built.

The former Iceland building started life as Tesco, then became Bejams, which was taken over by the Iceland group in the early 1990's. That building has been a monument to 20th century architecture, a stunning embodiment of everything that is and was ED. The current overhaul of it's look seems like an attempt to wipe its history away and pretend that it's a new building with a new glossy retail unit at the bottom alongside numerous expensive flats above.

Architectural folly, destroying a gem to create a faceless corporate design. All the worst traits of globalisation and capitalism combined.

    • Hi all, I’m looking for a local photographer for one hour on Sunday 21st at 6pm in East Dulwich. We’re doing a food prep session and I’d love some natural, professional shots of: • Food being plated • Prep in action • A few team shots • Some finished dish photos We’re a small independent food business and don’t have a big budget for this one, but happy to agree a fair hourly rate and credit/tag you on all content. If anyone local is building their portfolio or fancies a quick paid shoot, please DM me with your rates and examples of your work.
    • Hi, not sure if anyone can help, I am having trouble with my car, a mechanical issue specific to this Peugeot model I have. I am looking to see if anyone knows of a garage nearby that has Peugeot knowledge and can help ( I also need to get the car towed there) I have tried stellantis in Croydon and Wimbledon, who are bloody difficult to get hold of for a start (took me a week to get some sort of reply) they can’t  book me in for over four  weeks, want £200 just to have a look at it first, and it’s a fare way for me to pay to have it towed Considering this is where I got the car from I,d thought they would be more helpful, but hey. just thought I would see if anyone had any recommendations on here for someone nearer.
