Loz
Now I like to give the Guardian a good kicking as much as the next person, but it most media outlets went with similar versions of this story. Even the Beeb.Corbyn was naive saying anything like that to a room containing many members of the Jewish media community. Of course they were going to take it badly. Bunch of middle class pretend> revolutionary @#$%&*ers in the main.Give me a middle class pretend revolutionary over a working class Tory any day of the week - the former is probably misguided trying to do his/her best, the latter is a traitor to their class trying to do his/her best for themselves and devil take the hindmost. Enjoying being a hater isn't really much to be proud of. uncleglen
Yes- the left have succeeded in destroying any aspirations the working classes may have had by getting rid of grammar schools (public school educated labourite Anthony Crosland) and everything else ???? said. After all, most middle class lefties are probably from working class stock and have parents that went to grammar schools, but what is the point of being middle class if there is no-one to look down on?Blair finished off the working class by failing to equip them with a trade, and trying to make them go to uni to do stupid courses- and then he filled the skills gap with east europeans. So now what would have been the working class is now an underclass on benefits....AND that is what Labour wants- uneducated, dependent on the State...voting for them with the hope of an increase in benefits.....or a better council house. Loz
Not much detail, though. What is he proposing to them that will entice them back into the fold? TE44
Loz He's offering them a chance to look again atwhat's important to them, I admire the fact, regardless of how he's been treated he is preparedto work together with people who have been herded into a backstabbing mentality. The party is divided and good on him for trying, about time labour was shook up, they've become hard to distinguish fro tories fo a long time now. If he tries to play hard ball, it will almost certainly end in a schism. And what is important to them is quite obvious - they want to be elected. Unless Corbyn can show he can win a general election, he's got nothing to offer them. They have already decided he is an electoral liability, so I'm not sure what he can say to convince them otherwise. ????
I think the thing that horrifies much of the PLP is his complete incompetence rather than his ideology - the Corbynistas hide his uselessness behind 'the new kind of politics mantra' Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/113064-one-for-guardian-readers/#findComment-1018545 Share on other sites

TE44
I don't quite get where this unelectable statushas came from. When you look at most of the puppets, psychopaths, etc. who have been elected, or the ones who will be standing for pm, I justcan't see why he's that unelectable, other than the labour party moving so far right, its impossible for the majority support. I'm glad he'srefusing to go its showing the labour party for what they are. Louisa
All it's really showing is the sensible majority of the electorate in the middle, are seeing the Labour Party being held hostage by a fringe movement on the far left, supported by a bunch of radicals from various protest movements who obtained membership for three quid so they could scream loudly and get nothing achieved. He is unelectable in the same way Michael Foot was unelectable in the 80's. History repeating itself, can you not see that? He is appealing only to a sizeable chunk of members and no one else. The PLP recognise this, and don't want to be non-effective forever, it's bad for the party, it's bad for the country and it's bad for democracy. Louisa.
