My son had his 8 months check and we have been referred to Kings as the GP said he had a lump in one of his testicles. I am not panicking or googling because google can be evil sometimes but does anyone have any experience about it? I am just putting it down to fatty tissue or something.

I presume the hospital will just have a feel and do a scan?

Thanks

Heidi

Having seen families bringing their little boys in with similar to paeds ED, think having a look and if needed a scan will be done - what they might do is try shining a pen torch at the lump to see if it's solid or fluid filled (alot of these turn out to be hydrocels - fluid filled harmless cysts).

Am sure your GP has advised you on signs to watch for, but if there appears to be sudden swelling/it looks red and is painful to touch then either return to GP or attend ED.

Jam - my son had a lump on his arm for some time and we also panicked but it ended up being fatty tissue (they thought!) and told us we must let it be and it should disappear .. thankfully it did just that. ps, he was in ICU so we were with the specialists and they definitely said babies are born/develop all sorts of fatty tissues amongst other things and they did also say definitely don't panick but get it looked at so you can get some sleep.

Hopefully its all ok :-)

    • There was quite an old clip on BBC4 recently where they were introducing yoghurt to the British public. They called it a 'Balkan Dairy Preparation', which sounded to me more like something you'd ask to speak to the male member of staff about in the chemist in those days.
    • I haven't had any problems, except when the online  appointment system is full, but I have found if something is urgent they can fit you in if you phone. I think they probably keep a few spaces free for urgent last minute appointments, but I'm just guessing  I've found it quite convenient being able to email questions which previously I would have had to ask at an actual appointment, and I've always had a speedy reply. You can send photos as well. I don't know about forms and letters. That sounds bad. Have the admin staff changed recently?

    • The yoghurt was very sharp (not sure of right word) and  if memory serves quite runny. Nothing like the stuff sold now. There was pink as well. Strawberry? That must have had sugar in? Too new fangled for us, but my Auntie Grace down the road used to get it 😂 Well, you had to keep up to date. Sorry, couldn't resist.
