checkmeout
Hi allI am 5.5months pregnant and i am a bit confused about ANTENATEL classes, i have sent the form off that i was given by my midewife but have not heard anything back. So i am assuming they are full. If this is the case can anyone recommend any good classes in East Dulwich area? I am also confused about when you are suppose to start these classes. This is my first baby, so any info will be much appreciated.Look forward to hearing from you.Thanksx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11709-pregnant-and-confused-about-antenatel-classes/ Share on other sites
Helen GV
call them to check whether they actually received your form, I got to about 7 months before I called and was told that there was no record of me and the first available course started about a week before I was due and ran for three weeks! The lady I spoke to took pity on me (I cried) and said we could sit in on the last evening of the one she had running, which we did. My baby was almost 4 weeks early so we never actually made it to our course, and missed out on all of the labour and birth information! It wasn't the end of the world obviously as nothing can reeeaally prepare you for every eventuality and there is a lot of information available in other places but I do wish I had called earlier...Best of luck :o) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11709-pregnant-and-confused-about-antenatel-classes/#findComment-330858 Share on other sites
kirir
I ended up calling Kings as I never heard anything back from them, they said they never received my form, but managed to book me in over the phone. I started the classes at 36 weeks, which worked in well as I had just started my maternity leave, so didn't have to take anymore time off work. prdarling
My advice with anything prenancy related would be never assume they will call you back about anything. I'm afraid it's chase, chase and chase again! katgod
My NHS classes started when I was about 35 weeks pg and I did not manage to see the course through either as babay came a bit early. Would not expect to hear anything til about 7 months.so far as I know the nly alternative is NCT - they have a web site but you have to pay (unless you can show you are on benefits etc I think) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11709-pregnant-and-confused-about-antenatel-classes/#findComment-330921 Share on other sites
MichelleT
I did the ante-natal classes at Kings recently - most of the people on the course were 30 weeks or so. But worth giving them a call to check. crystal7
I heard nothing until I was about 7 months either. Started classes when I was 36 weeks. I would chase just in case though. Good luck! Lemon1
I had to chase Kings after I didn't hear anything from them and they also told me that they never received my form. I was lucky enough to book onto a course over the phone and was about 34 weeks when they started and a lot further than anyone else. Definitely chase Kings, I think I had to keep calling everyday for a week before I got to speak to the correct person.
