Hello

I'm looking for an 'average' family who would like to have a money makeover from GMTV's financial expert Martin Lewis - not a life changing one, just one that will show you how to save money on tariffs, utilities etc. He will need to delve into things like your mortgage payments, credit card bills etc so you will need to provide a bit of personal info - he is aiming to save you around ?1000 a year. We would need to film with you this Thurs or Fri....pls PM me for more info.

Hi EMC - I've just done our family budget (we're only just coming out in the black!!) so we'd definitely be up for it. Having said that it'd just be me as my husband will be at work - would that suit?

Also we rent - does that out us out of the running?

xx

I would also like to add that it's thanks to Martin Lewis that I opened a Quidco account. Quidco is money for nothing - you get money back from sites that you were spending money on anyway. I opened my Quidco account 2 years ago and I've currently made ?826.80. That's not in vouchers or points or anything - that is actual ??????? sterling paid directly into my bank account by Quidco. I haven't spent a single penny that I wouldn't have spent anyway - Quidco just gave me ??? back for spending it. You would be mad not to.

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
