I don't think a competition exists where you have to stay up all night watching the Olympics and then do a job the following day, but if it did I'd probably make the podium.

Mind you I'm not vouching for the quality of the work. It's a good job I don't work with explosives

But the finishing line is a very long way off and I'm hallucinating already.

Any tips?

Any favourite bits?

I have some personal interest in the equine bits, which have been exceptional and moving. But as a generally sports adverse person, this games has actually captured my imagination more than 2012!

I have no wise words on the Stayey Uppy bit; but can recommend working from home as a great help...😉

Who thought up some of the more stupid cycling events? Some are excellent (elimination race, points race) but some of the rest are just silly. Riding really slowly before sprinting as fast as possible? Following a motorbike around for six laps?.

What next - participants must cycle backwards whilst juggling and mentally solving mathematical problems? Three laps of reading the third Harry Potter book whilst simultaneously singing "Bohemian Rhapsody", before a final sprint?

We have the Gymnastic Gold Medalists and Cycle Gold Medalists all excited .. elated... really filled with emotion...

Then we get Andy Murray.. who gets a Gold and droooness on and on and on.. aaaah yehhh .. I'm really..drone.. excited..

drone... sounding like he's on Tuinal or Barbs.. with no personality .. what a boing B******d that guy is..

Foxy..

Kicking a pig's bladder around a field trying to wallop it into a net? Hitting fluff-covered rubber to and fro with paddle shaped frames covered in catgut? Chucking a piece of leather at some bits of wood while another chap uses another bit of wood to try and stop you? All sports are absurd if you reduce them to their essentials - it's part of what makes them such fun and so life affirming, they're basically just silly buggers for the pure unnecessary hell of it!

    • Fair points, not arguing with you on them.  What people forget is that immigrants or low skilled workers do the jobs the home population don't want to do and without those jobs being done, things very quickly grind to a halt, i.e. hospital cleaners, all very necessary, but I'd have thought the majority are on minimum wage. And Minimum Wage (35hrs/wk) isn't exactly what I'd call minimum. Just over £21K, easily double and a bit more than what I get in monthly pension income to live off.
    • Well he couldn’t deliver anything better than a poor brexit. Because no such thing exists
    • Fair points jazzer. But it begs the question, on what information are people basing their opinion? because if it’s x or the right wing media the of course they will believe nothing has happened but people who claim to be motivated by rising immigration numbers are either ignorant of or don’t care the those numbers have dropped significantly since Labour got in Hospital waiting lists are finally showing improvements after years of getting worse people on minimum wage are better off We haven’t had a random general election or new prime minister just months after the last one  compare that to Tory chaos Important relations with other countries (important for long term trade and growth) have improved under labour given the size of the mess they inherited it’s far better than many give credit for  and the prospect of a Badenoch and/or farage govt returning us to the chaos of last 10 years? No thanks (I could do a long list of things Labour have done wrong or badly but that’s for another thread. I did not vote for Labour, but all things considered they are a massive improvement on what came before. Unfortunately we have a bunch of far right agitators kicking off around the country because they are cry babies which gives impression country is going downhill  when it’s really not)
    • he's not on the general radar - not with the Labour tax scandal and the new Tories wanting to buddy up with Starmer (on their terms). if anything, he's a irrelevant distraction from some real alarms
