Cost of Alcove Units

Waffo

Recommended Posts

Hello,

As many others on the forum I'm looking to have some fitted furniture made - alcove units, wardrobes and a loft wardrobe in the sloping roof part.

I've had a couple of quotes but they seem incredibly pricey in my opinion. If there is anyone who has had these made recently, would you mind sharing how much your quotes were. I don't mind paying for quality items, but want to ensure I'm not being ripped off.

Many thanks

Hi,

My name is Julian Richards, and I build alcove units / wardrobes / desks etc for a living. A lot of my business is around the East Dulwich area, and I invariably get good results and happy clients. I am a one man band, I try to come with advice on what would suit you, and what works well, and what doesn't. I am clean and efficient in the way I carry out my work, and certainly won't turn your life upside down while I am there.

Below is a link to recommendations of my work on the East Dulwich Forum (or you can just search for Julian Richards, the last post is over a year ago though).

I have also attached a couple of examples of my work (that's all I was allowed to send, I have plenty more if you want them).

If you would like a good idea on cost, give me a ring on 07931 520 713, or send me your contact details. If you tell me what you're considering, I will be able to give you a fairly accurate idea on the phone. I am based in Beckenham, and can come up to quote anytime if you'd prefer.

Regards

Julian Richards

    • Could East Dulwich or Forest Hill work? Some properties on Underhill Road and Wood Vale have large gardens e.g.  https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/161079866#/?channel=RES_BUY  You'd be close to the Horniman, Dulwich Park and Peckham Rye. Transport might not be what you're looking for though e.g. a 15 minute walk to Forest Hill station for the East London line or mainline into London Bridge.
    • I would leave London, or at a push move back to north London. In SE London if you want to get away in a car you are trapped, always an hour to go the first 10 miles, chugging up to the M4 or round the south circular, which is really just a line someone drew connecting a load of roads. and I know there are trains but first you have to get to those mainline stations, unless you only want to leave London to go to Kent. which I don't.
    • It was you who  made it personal in the first place,  Jazzer. You said you didn't feel safe in the streets,  and you said you didn't go to Central London because you didn't feel safe there. So are you now saying that wasn't "personal"? "Fire from the hip." Another interesting choice of words 🙄 I'm not "demanding" anything! I asked you some perfectly reasonable questions in  response to your own statements. None of which you have answered. Never mind. It seems to be pointless having a discussion with you. It's long past my bedtime. I'm going to turn on my sleep app  and go to sleep 😴💤
    • Hi Forumites, This afternoon someone in a dark blue/black saloon car collided with my parked car on Thompson Road, SE22 9JR. I have a neighbour’s doorbell cam footage of the collision at 14:30 19/09/2025 but am unable to identify the registration plate. If anyone has footage of a car travelling down Thompson Road towards Crystal Palace Road at that time please PM me. Of course if the Perp would like to confess they can also PM me. Thankyou.
