i was actually on the helles most of the time but obviously for purposes of research dipped into the dunkle from time to time

Agree with you David_Carnell, Harveys Sussex Best/Bitter is top notch. They do a good pint at the Royal Oak on Tabard Street 5-10 mins walk from London Bridge. I'm finding it difficult to get a decent pint of bitter in ED. If my memory smc I've had decent pints of Timothy Taylor's Landlord in the Gowlett, Herne Tavern and Magdala fairly recently. Was pleasantly surprised at the range of beers on offer in the revamped Plough. Had some tasty Leffe in the Rye Hotel a while back, too. Cheers.JM

Yes, the Gowlett are pretty good for ale. Their policy of only getting one barrell of each and then moving on to another stops stuff getting stale and is great for tasting beers you wouldn't normally see. I wonder if you're allowed to recommend beers to them?

Timothy Taylor Landlord is, and I'm with you on this JimmyMac, an excellent drop. Apparently Madonna had it at her wedding to Guy Ritchie so they must be doing something right.

    • ...and so, 4 years on from the "dramatic planning meeting" that approved the "meganursery", how has it all worked out in reality? The building looks nice from the outside - but I don't know anything more. Did either of the nursery businesses on EDG fail because there was no demand for nursery places in East Dulwich? Did Carmageddon on East Dulwich Grove get worse? Were pre-COVID work patterns abandoned forever (lol)? Were some of the concerns expressed in opposition to the planning application a teensy bit overblown...? https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/southwark/mega-nursery-approved-amid-dramatic-planning-meeting/

    • Reading The words 'Artisan'  and 'Curated' when refering to my 'Breakfast Bundle' frankly make me feel a bit..🤢
    • I would recommend Coopers bakehouse, which offer a similar service to B&C but it’s just focussed on really good bread, decent prices and keeps for ages (also freezes well).  Delivered by bike.
